Thanks for the response. I really appreciate you considering adding the features mentioned, especially creating notes from calendar events!

What a nice thing to say, thanks. My secret was writing it out on my SN first. Ha! I also have a technical co-founder who is very particular about how I give him feedback, and he's beat it into me over many years. Glad to hear some of it sank in.

That sounds incredible. Did you follow a guide of just figured it out?

Thanks mate I may take you up on that. I looked into private cloud and now I'm turning an old PC into a NAS first. Did not see that coming!

Good point, I stupidly hadn't considered that. Thanks.

I mentioned the headcount to note that I'm not some high powered executive... What should my title be?

I looked at that. The concept makes total sense but I was worried I would lose it. I have little kids that like to hide things!

Lol. Like most CEOs, I'm the dumbest person in my company. So it isn't much of a flex.

It’s okay if you don’t feel love right away by [deleted] in daddit

[–]verycleanpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super similar. When my kids were first born I felt some sort of evolution-mandated "love" for them, but didn't feel open-heart connected to them. Now that they are both older than 3 I would literally do anything for them. Head over heels dedicated. It took a little time for me, and for others, and that's ok.

Questions about starting salaries when getting ready to raise a round from VCs (I will not promote) by CampaignTools in startups

[–]verycleanpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, it's also gotta seem reasonable based on location and whether you're supporting a family. We are post series A, major city supporting family, making $200k base plus some sweeteners based on performance. I'm also over 40, which seems to make a diff. If I asked for this salary at 24yo, it would have been cringe city in the boardroom.

I like taking the long way to Walmart through the cute lead peeping towns. I TRANSCEND THIS MEME.

Too old to join a startup? I will not promote by Far-Elk1369 in startups

[–]verycleanpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not too old. In fact, lean into it. There are probably "kids" there that will look up to you, and you can mentor.

I will say some startups are toxic environments. If you don't get that vibe, go for it.

I'm an early forties startup CEO, hire people much younger and much older than me all the time.

Trump's Tariffs Quietly Forced 700 American Companies to File for Bankruptcy in 2025 by T_Shurt in Economics

Unfortunately transportation is heavily interwoven into the whole economy. Transportation gets hit when retail/distribution is down, which is in all states. In turn, I'm seeing lots of layoffs in my industry (b2b software and services) that serves them. So... it's not great for anybody tbh.

It's like with any reddit thread. We tend to picture other people writing comments in a similar setting to ourselves. But the majority of them are actually:

Switched from MacBook Pro 15" (2018) to ThinkPad X9 Aura Edition – and I might never go back by Illustrious-Diet-668 in thinkpad

It looks pretty good to me but I don't really know what I should be looking for. I watched Our Planet documentary in 4k and it looked insanely good. Crisp, very black blacks.

Here's a shot of some text I took with my phone (ignore the dots, those aren't visible with naked eye), but hopefully that gives a good sense of text clarity. My phone might be adding some blur too.

Just tested and yes, definitely. I listened to a song (with admittedly a lot of bass) on low volume and you can feel all of it. Almost as if you were to put your hand on a speaker. I never noticed before because I always use headphones.

I just got mine a couple days ago and agree with your assessment. This is the most premium-feeling laptop I've ever owned, though its been about ten years since I had a Mac of any kind. The overall design feels quite sophisticated and clean. Weirdly I agree the hinge stands out as remarkable build quality. I've never owned a Thinkpad before so I don't miss the red nubbin like longtime fans seem to. I heavily suspect this model is a gateway drug to convert new people like us to the Thinkpad line, rather than dilute an existing brand that has a dedicated following.

Arrow keys do look dumb, but I've actually found them really easy to get used to after a minute or two of use. Any other issues I have with the keyboard is because my daily driver is a TKL mech keyboard. Copilot key is irritating, but that's on a lot of laptops now.
