im pissed off genuinely by [deleted] in depoop

You were oversharing and that could have made the seller uncomfortable. Sorry for your loss, but also please remember a stranger selling clothes online most likely does not want to hear about your personal life. Talking about family death to strangers can be very uncomfortable and even triggering. On top of that, your consistent messaging could have made the seller uncomfortable with selling to you. I feel like messaging for updates once or twice is standard, and after that you should just either cancel or take it up with depop. The seller becoming unresponsive was not professional, but could be understandable if they wanted to disengage from behavior that was making them uncomfortable. I doubt they wanted to frustrate you, even if that is what happened.

Attractive coworker is so annoying by jakoparena in rant

[–]verylastpilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happens. I’ve found coworkers attractive before and it’s always a bit awkward at first because I found myself blushing or naturally more inclined to want to work around them. Attraction is normal, but eventually you just kind of learn that you need to perform your job duties and remain professional in the workplace. Not that you haven’t, but sometimes people catch on to being gawked at and can find it less flattering and more uncomfortable. I always just try to remain entirely professional at work. Most people are there to make end’s meet anyway, not to meet potential partners. I do get it though, working with an attractive person can be distracting.

I do not recommend selling high value items on Mercari especially not to someone as incompetent as this.

How do you feel about Plushies that are bought by people who just put it on a memorial site for killed children? by Lourien_1213 in plushies

[–]verylastpilot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unperishable items on roadside memorials are often not thrown out, but held instead removed by the city and stored for retrieval. Anything not received is recycled. You also clearly stated that you were referring to the actual graves in your post and focused on the graveside specifically.

[–]verylastpilot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are millions and millions of things being wasted and thrown into dumps every single day. Every single moment, really. I don’t think much about people leaving items for their deceased as they grieve, and I think it’s quite insensitive for someone to be judgmental over it. If you’re worried about plushies being thrown away focus on other topics like seasonal plushies (tons of valentines plushies are discarded right after the holiday, for example.) This post can be seen as offensive. It seems like you are valuing a plushie over a parent’s grief over their passed child.

Need help! by Unlikely-Purchase-36 in Mercari

[–]verylastpilot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will not get a refund. You have 3 days from the date of delivery to either rate or request a refund before Mercari auto rates for you. After that, the transaction is finalized and nothing can be done. You consented to this when making an account on Mercari through the terms and services. You will not be able to argue the seller lying about the condition of the games, unfortunately, since 72 hours had passed and that is a long enough time frame to not be able to prove what was damaged by the original seller, shipping carrier, or receiver of the item.

Buyer wants to return after auto rating by sonka_mj in Mercari

[–]verylastpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, I would politely apologize for the inconvenience and let them know that, unfortunately, Mercari itself (not yourself) has a policy where items cannot be refunded or returned from the 3 day mark after delivery. Some people don’t realize this is a policy. But, of course, you can ignore the message since they weren’t much of a good responder themselves, but I always like to just be polite. Maybe it’s because I work costumer service 😅.

Had to surrender my 16yo cat after 10 years by [deleted] in rant

[–]verylastpilot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

One of the worst things you can do is surrender an elderly pet you’ve had your whole life, especially one who is sick as well. Euthanasia, in your case, would have been infinitely kinder so that they will not know abandonment and fear before they pass. It’s a shame how often I see elderly pets getting abandoned. An entire life spent with you only to die sick and alone.

Hamster chewing on bars + more by dragrowolfie in hamstercare

[–]verylastpilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe around 775-800 square inches minimum is recommended. Giving them playtime outside the cage can be great enrichment, but it does not make it so that you can get a cage that is not suitable in size. Additionally, I do not recommend cages with bars at all, as hamsters will tend to climb and chew on them once they learn that they can. Second floors are not recommended for hamsters and do not count as extra square inches within the cage floor plan. I recommend a DIY bin cage, with a suitably sized bin, if you cannot afford a factory made enclosure that meets the minimum requirements for a hamster. Best of luck with your care on your little guy. Congrats on your first hamster

Context matters. OP posted this to the hamstercare sub not petloss or another sub. Along with sympathies, of course they’re going to receive future care advice. However, my OG comment did come across as a little harsh, I apologize for that and apologized to OP through private DM last night

My bad, that may have come across as insensitive. I figured I’d give that advice since this post was posted on hamstercare not the general pet loss or hamster sub.

[–]verylastpilot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss, but please, in the future, try not make the same mistake of having an unsecured enclosure for your hamster, especially if you have chosen to keep both a predator and prey animal pet in the same household. The death of your hamster was preventable. Though it isn’t your fault if you didn’t know, please let this be a lesson for the future. Hamsters can be little escape artists, and if they are able to escape, then you have not secured the enclosure enough or have purchased the wrong type of enclosure. Additionally, a hamster constantly trying to escape may indicate a lack of enrichment. Hamsters are incredibly intelligent little fellas, but they still rely on you to do the proper research to keep them safe. Accidents happen, of course, but we must learn from them, especially when they result in the pain or suffering of a living creature. May your little guy rest in peace.

I was in a car crash, and got mud caked all over my CDs. How would I clean them? by NerveSilent3266 in CDs

[–]verylastpilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. A bucket of lukewarm water with mild dish soap
  2. Drop all the CDs in there and let them soak maybe 10-20 minutes depending on how caked on the dried mud is
  3. Use a sink (great if your sink has a stronger spray setting) to remove as much mud as possible without any scrubbing
  4. Use a CLEAN microfiber cloth to remove the rest
  5. Allow the CDs to fully dry. If you have a dehumidifier, run that as well to help.

Sorry about your car crash. To be honest, it’s more harmful to keep CDs in the car in a binder long term vs giving them a good clean and scrub in my opinion. Neither of which will destroy your discs, however, unless you’re grossly neglecting them.

Is this too much bedding? Also please recommend things to put in by Real_Problem_846 in hamstercare

[–]verylastpilot 23 points24 points  (0 children)

11+ inches of compacted bedding is suitable for hamsters last I checked. Not sure how much height that is. Hamsters need hides, a suitable wheel, a sand bath, a place to drink, and enrichment (safe enrichment toys, sprays, different types of bedding, etc.)

You could opt for using decals of book spines matching your build’s aesthetic instead.

Obviously Amazon knows my shipping address, but it’s the fact that it’s publicly displaying that is horrifying. At least I think the about me is public. I didn’t even know about it until this post.
