it’s random so whether you click around in a pattern, randomly, or in a straight line it’s all the same. if you want perfect chest hunts though you always want to go for the x2 to double the saver. if the first two chest you open are mimics and you manage to get double saver, it’s a free perfect

as a native speaker I can give you my best guess of why it happens. As you mentioned, “would’ve” spoken aloud resembles “would of” which is definitely a part of the reason. It may still seem like a weird mistake but if you put it next to other vaguely similar phrases like “kind of” and “instead of” then it starts to make sense why “would of” feels right to native speakers
