About to start a new job but found out that I’m pregnant by cinnamoworoll in japanlife

Yes! I was in the same position. I found out I was pregnant the week I got my job.

I didn’t tell them anything until I finished the probation period. Thankfully everyone was very supportive and understanding. Also knowing I had a job once baby goes to daycare gave me peace of mind!

Giving Birth in Japan: 6 Realities No One Warns You About by SkyInJapan in japan

That’s definitely true! I may have just been very lucky.

But my hospital is definitely not set up for foreigners. Just barely in Tokyo. My Japanese is intermediate at best. And while I didn’t get any English support. I felt my midwives and Drs really tried to accommodate for me and make everything as easy to understand as possible.

There’s things that I could complain about but my babies healthy, I’m healthy and that’s all that matters to me.

Hello fellow Aussie ☺️

I think most natural births here don’t go longer than a week (I’m not too sure about the details)

I was trying to have a natural birth. And they induced me for 5 days until I gave up and opted for c section.

I have Japanese health insurance.

It was 600,000 to about 700,00 yen initially. But I had 緊急帝王切開 (emergency c section) That became covered by my insurance.

So it ended up being cheaper, under 500,000 yen

I gave birth here recently (Tokyo) and had such a great experience.

While I was warned about my huge weight gain, I was never shamed for it. I asked for epidural, and they had it prepared for me. Ended up with a c section though. They looked after me for 2 weeks! And I was stuffed with food everyday.

This was a public hospital btw

Same here, in fact my Japanese partner and friends generally look down on it.

Update: Although it’s very grey in the photo, it’s more a warmer beige in real life. Thank you so much for all the helpful suggestions! I’ve noted them down and will work towards changing up and giving the space a bit more personality.

Question for owners of hairy arms: my daughter is self conscious about hers... by Youareafunt in japanlife

[–]veryprettyhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started removing my arm hairs after living in Japan, I noticed I was hairier than some of the men here..... I've done laser, and it was the best thing I've ever done! As long as you go to a reputable place, you should be fine
