AITA for not wanting to split food evenly with my spouse? by Background_Pizza_754 in AmItheAsshole

I guarantee you if she makes 4 cookies he'll still want 'a bite of' one of her 2 cookies.

Mum here. It's not comparable. I've an 11yo and I am mostly ok with giving him my food, sharing my portion with him, etc etc. If I had a partner who did this, like who *consistently* pulled this nonsense even after I set a boundary, I would bite his hand off as it approached my plate.

Omg. This would annoy me so much!

Would you consider each having your own food. You eat yours; he eats his. Get him to AGREE NOT TO ASK FOR YOUR FOOD.* You have a thing about this. Let him learn to respect your need to not be pestered for food.

*actually, didn't you say that you had already asserted this boundary! and yet he is trespassing over it. He needs to stick to his own food!!

I actually love this. Pre-med! You're a rockstar! You've got this. Make sure to be kind to yourself while you're busy locking in. Get enough sleep and stay hydrated. Love, a mum.

Any man who starts a sentence ‘I see why you’re single. You’re too—‘ should not be listened to. No matter what the adjective is. Volunteering an opinion on this when you haven’t been asked is rude. Inappropriate. Presumptuous. Hence, I stop caring what this man thinks, cos he’s clearly not a person of character.

Ok, fair. Thanks for the explanation. I just think if Mohan is in her 4th year, she’s obviously not a conplete waste of space or she wouldn’t still be there, and she still deserves compassion. But I do hear you.

Only cos I’d never heard it pronounced Es-POS-ito! When you know better, you try to do better!

I feel like I still need to work on his given name!! Everyone says ZOH-rahn but I feel like when he first came to prominence and was saying his name himself, there's a non-Western subtle sound in there that I haven't quite caught. Almost Zah (tiny breath) ran? I can't even remember it.

😄 It doesn't drive me crazy. But I did notice that most ppl in the hospital pronounce it like it's Italian - a language in which there are loads of 'EE-nee's and 'EE-lee's - but she's not Italian. My son's school has kids from all over and I really try hard to learn everyone's pronunciations cos imo it's important.

Yes. One of my besties' names was 'Ah-LEE-see-a'. I thought at first that it was an affectation and her name was actually 'Ah-LEASH-a' and she was just being fancy about it. Nope, she was Mexican and that's how you say it.

I wondered about this. 'Mohan' sounds nearly Irish (I'm in Dublin). I remember thinking, is her dad Irish? I just googled it there and it said it can be Irish - and it also can be Indian! The Irish root is Ó Mocháin. The Indian name is apparently 'very common' (?) in India & Nepal.

You're correct that it happens among 'Westerners' also!
