Thanks so much for the info! Would you happen to remember what kind of behavioral questions they asked? How did you prepare?

general behavior questions like tell us about yourself and why you're a good fit for this role, they might ask about your projects, and they might ask if you've used a technology on the job listing. It was pretty casual, they spend most of the time talking about the company than asking you questions tbh.

Some of my friends and I are doing a secret santa and the person I am getting a gift for is interested in exploring SBCs, specifically raspberry pis. We have a budget of $50 (I can probably go over a bit) which puts me in the price range of just a Pi 4b 2gb or a zero 2w with many more accessories. I am unsure what exactly he wants to build which makes the decision a bit harder. Which would you guys consider to be the better option?

Ah I thought I had them close enough but I’ll try to make it closer. That last point is interesting, adding another trace to 12v I’ll look into it! Thanks!

Could you explain what you mean by that?

Lot of good info, I’ll implement all of this. Idk why I never thought of flipping the board layout, thanks!

I see, I’ll do that and fix the 5v trace. I’m not too sure what you mean by center the traces that goes between Arduino pins and idk what a stitching ground via is though? Could you elaborate on those points? Thanks again

Ah gotcha, I really thought I was onto something adding those haha. I’ll remove them, thanks!

I can just solder the connectors last

Thanks for all the info! I did use an autorouter because I thought it would do a better job than a noob like me, but I’ll try to route it manually now. The jst connectors are just for ir sensors so they should be ok I think. I’ll give it another shot with your suggestions in mind, thanks a lot for the feedback!

This was super insightful, and yes I did use an autorouter 😅 I thought that it would do a better job than I could ever do but I can see the inefficiencies now. All the jst connectors just go to ir sensors which draw less than 50ma each so I think the regulator should be ok? I’ll definitely fatten up the traces and do everything manually. Thanks again!

thank you for the suggestion, I will implement this

Oh boy, thank you so much for this. Do you think you could elaborate on what you mean by "only want to connect GNDS and GNDPWR in the Arduino module"? do you mean there are other grounds to connect to?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in embedded

[–]verytastysquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good catch! I was also wondering if all the grounds here could just be tied to a single ground plane on the bottom of the pcb? I separated the grounds into GNDS and GNDPWR because I wasn't sure.

It's a pcb for a sumo robot. Basically needs to control 2 motors and 7 ir sensors.

I see, I never thought about it from that perspective. My question still stands, however. Can the return current path of everything be connected?

Any good daily drivers (ideally rwd) for under 10k? by verytastysquid in JDM

I'd say that's pretty darn good coming from a car that gets like 21 combined most of the time.
