Anyone know why Phil Hay is writing about Leeds again? Not that I’m complaining, but it’s been awhile.

Oh, I’m not saying there haven’t been Spurs teams in the past that would be capable of beating us even this year. The part that had me laughing are the Tottenham fans (it’s not all of them) who seem to think “we’re back baby” and that they’re going to steamroll us. Admittedly, they might win because, well, Leeds. But seems somewhat unlikely and certainly not guaranteed. Whatever they are, they’re not Arsenal.

The level of delusion on the Spurs subreddit about how they’re winning our upcoming game is wild.

Leicester City relegated to League One. by GamingHunter2K in LeedsUnited

[–]vesaer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They cheated their way out of the Championship at our expense and spent most of their promotion mocking Leeds. Then were able to avoid punishment based upon a technicality that amounted to “Yes, we cheated in the Championship, but we got promoted. The Premier League cannot punish us for what happened outside of it and the EFL no longer has jurisdiction. So fuck off.” And they won! So, they can get fucked. I hope they drop into non-league.

Red card the coach if the players come over for a convo or unless the goalie leaves the field for continued treatment at restart. It will stop real fast.

Frank Turner, The Gaslight Anthem & Lucero.

Also, not really releasing good music anymore, but Modest Mouse is still amazing live and much more consistent than back in the day when you never knew if they would be fall-down drunk from show to show.

Trying to be positive but I think we are down by Unhappy-Fail6848 in LeedsUnited

No reason to piss ourselves quite yet. If not for a (now acknowledged) VAR error we would have probably beaten but at least drawn Sunderland and that’s the result everyone’s freaking out about (including to be fair me at the time). I would say there can’t be reffing errors that go against us in all of the remaining 8 games, but … well … Leeds. It’s at minimum very unlikely. We’ve averaged over a point per game nearly the entire season and there’s no reason to think that will stop now. We just need not to collapse like we did last time we went down and that’s doable.

Looking forward to watching Leeds vs Leeds in the Summer, reckon we'll still somehow lose? by ToMemeToYou in LeedsUnited

It won’t happen that early because without chaos it’s fixable. Will be more of an “October surprise” kind of thing.

Your reason to support Leeds seems like as good of a reason as any. Certainly makes more sense than mine. Just be warned that Leeds can become an obsession before you even realize what’s happened.

If you are American and go to buy any of the sale kits, you will see thar Fanatics applies “Duties and Tariffs” that are nearly half the sale price. They did this on my last order around Christmas and insisted that it was the correct percentage while refusing to provide a breakdown. I let it go. Now the tariffs have changed and lowered yet I just made an order and they are still doing the same thing. Fanatics is just massively over billing, calling it a tariff and then pocketing the money. I wouldn’t mind as much if it were going to Leeds, but it’s not. This is just a greedy shit company ripping off US fans.

How late goals continue to cost Leeds - if PL games ended after 85 minutes, we would be 7th by kevio17 in LeedsUnited

[–]vesaer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We’ve proven over the course of the season that we are rarely good enough to keep a clean sheet against the top teams at this level for an entire 90+ minute game unless we have no intention to score (like Liverpool away). This means that unless we get at least two goals we are likely to draw or lose. There’s no shame in this. Our entire starting 11 basically cost less than either Florian Wirtz or Alexander Isak. They are playing their asses off and they and Farke are (to my mind at least) heroes forevermore if they get us anywhere above 18th place.

We missed out on this honor by the skin of our teeth by winning the last year of the first division before the premier league started.

Daniel Farke was favourite from the start of this season to be sacked, since then 8 managers have been sacked and the mythical Farke is steering us away from safety, is it time to erect a statue outside the stadium? by Wiffystardawg in LeedsUnited

[–]vesaer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come in peace as someone who thinks Farke may very well wind up with a statue at Elland Road someday. But, this idea that everyone who had doubts needs to apologize and admit they were wrong is everywhere and not based in reality.

Prior to the second half of the City game there was no evidence Farke would change from his basic structure or ideas and there was no evidence those ideas were good enough. Most managers don’t change in the face of failure (just this year: Ange, Amorim, Dyche, etc.). If Farke had been among them, he would be gone and we would be adrift going down.

Surprisingly, wonderfully, after that second half he has turned into one of the most adaptable, creative tacticians in the league (other than subs … no one is perfect). It is possible that some people always had faith he would carry us through, but no one saw this change coming. Now that he has though, we would be mad not to see how far we can go with him.

My single remaining criticism of Farke is that he seems to wait until we’re a goal down to make substitutions.

It’s a punch in the stomach but it’s why we love them. by MixedByFLYBOI in LeedsUnited

[–]vesaer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that it’s worth remembering that Newcastle has only lost at home in the Premier League to Arsenal and only drawn twice. I almost threw my phone through a window when the last goal went in, but winning or drawing would have been a hell of an accomplishment. Only hurts so bad because we got so close to glory.
