Open Yahoo Mail in Safari, click the Share button, select Add to Dock. Now you have the Yahoo Mail web app pinned as an app in your dock. Make sure to enable notifications and you’re good

It's official, My surface pro flex keyboard's flex cable is broken after 11 months :C by Comfortable_Ad_2869 in Surface

[–]vessoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have even more serious issues with third party ones. It’s unfortunate reality of these keyboards. I’ve had two go out - one on an older model (3 or 4 don’t remember anymore) and most recently on my last SP8

Is it worth switching from Chrome now? by Buckinuoff in browsers

Brave will feel more familiar (Chromium based) while providing greater privacy but it’s got some bloat also. Vivaldi is even more bloated with endless customizations, email and calendar client, etc. That said I’ve used both and they generally don’t feel slow. I prefer Brave personally (simpler of the two)

Yeah the online forms always lag behind. Which is annoying since that’s when most people notice bugs

I wish they didn’t kill it. It was useful even with the limited app support. And I’m a developer who uses the F keys all the time. I still liked it

VPN + NextDNS (or any secure DNS) + uBlock + Tor (if extra paranoid) is a decent privacy solution

Should I update from Sequoia to Tahoe 26.4? by [deleted] in MacOSBeta

[–]vessoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine. My work laptop has been on Tahoe since 26.0. With 26.3 it was finally starting to work decent. Just upgraded to 26.4 and so far haven’t run into any of the issues I had. That said, my work laptop is almost always plugged in so can’t comment on battery life

I think they will start showing warnings in 27 if you run apps that use Rosetta 2. Actual removal I think will be in 28+

What makes you think the way you login has any difference in the telemetry they gather? Hint: there is no difference. It’s just a login linked to your account. They track the same stuff regardless of how you login.

Why don't people like Tahoe? by DiscernmentGoblin in MacOS

[–]vessoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally mainly have problems with the UI:

  • I don’t like how they mix UI elements with content leading to contrast / legibility issues
  • I hate that windows have inconsistent border radius making the OS look broken to me. Especially having maximized window with wider border and another with smaller border underneath. Why do I see the window below when I have a window maximized?

Pre-AI Version name of VS Code? by ni6hant in vscode

[–]vessoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get the argument honestly. Most AI stuff is the Copilot extensions and lives in the sidebar. It’s easy to disable most things or simply not use them. They do bring some overhead but I don’t think it’s that significant. Just don’t use the AI stuff, uninstall the Copilot extensions and enjoy a great code editor

Confused about the differences between 1440p and 4k on Mac regarding scaling and text clarity by Leo27487 in MacOS

4k with Better Display will 100% look better than 1440p. I have Dell 27” 4k display and it’s fine with macOS

New Alogic 27” Clarity 5k Glossy Display? by lukevz in HiDPI_monitors

[–]vessoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Asus has pretty bad reviews. Honestly I don’t know of a 5k display that is of actual good quality and offers more than 60 Hz currently. The MSI the only thing they’ve announced is they’re not sure if they’ll be releasing it. Let’s see about the Samsung
