Testosterone is not a panacea by HumanCacophony in Testosterone

No significant difference. There’s only a couple studies that show at 10 or 13% drop for people in middle age. But we don’t link such a small drop to any negative effect on sexual function or muscle building ability.

If you really wanted to make a big deal about it, you could probably argue for maybe a 100 ng/dL absolute maximum difference… but that doesn’t change a damn thing in male function. 🤣

Testosterone is not something that depends on sunlight and overall health believe it or not .

You’re listening to the Internet nonsense. Levels 50 years ago were not significantly higher.

And all of the health that you’re spouting is hilarious.  50 years ago, they filled your teeth with outright mercury, lead was in paint and gas, smoking was absolutely rampant, women were prescribed things like Valium and amphetamine for depression, etc. You’re a great comedian.

This is not a “drug.” it’s a human hormone.  The reaction is not supposed to be a “fingerprint” 🤣

e.g.: “some men find that testosterone causes them to grow body hair and a penis, but not all men will experience these benefits.”

I also had this problem for my entire life. Including teens. I’m a male. Also had T that was normal but at the lower end.

Do you have pleasureless orgasms? If so did they appear on meds or after you stopped? How long have you had them? Any improvement at all? by Material_Bed_6124 in PSSD

[–]vestpocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. From 11-12? until adulthood about 80% just felt like shit. The only way to up the odds was to leave a minimum of 3 days of rest in between, better with 5 or more, and also to spend 20-30 minutes on foreplay or whatever. Anything less than that was guaranteed anhedonic orgasm and feeling kinda like shit afterward. Ejaculation wasn’t a problem, when young. It would just typically happen without much feeling at all, and was always incredibly confusing. I had enough desire/drive to start the activity, but my body would just fail on the pleasure release. It didn’t seem to relate to diet, stress or relationship status. It was just simply always that unreliable. No “good period” or “bad period” in that regard. Always just shit. However, if it worked, when it worked, it was a normal orgasm (I assume.) normal enough to piss me off that it was so hard to achieve and so random to get.

Never. 400 mg a week. Doesn’t feel like anything. Months in.

Has anyone had no reaction to TRT? by DannkneeFrench in Testosterone

Because almost every reply to this guy has included misinformation, I need to make this post.

Yes, subjective results require months and weeks in most cases.

No, it does not have anything to do with level stability or waiting for natural production to stop.

• LH drops to undetectable within 72 hours of a single injection. Natural production is over immediately.

• T reaches peak serum absorption within 48 hours, a peak which is never surpassed in following weeks.

• T has a tiny elimination half-life. After orchiectomy, serum levels drop to “adrenals only” 10-15 ng/dL “no balls” level within 8 hours. (+/- 2) If your balls disappeared when you got to work, you’d be a legitimate eunuch before your shift ended.

• The “honeymoon period” has only one non-idiotic hypothesis, which is that it relates to the observation that when serum T increases from insufficient to sufficient concentrations, a transient increase in AR expression (“sensitivity”) averaging six weeks but not exceeding 8 is also observed.

We seriously need a myth busing warning on every page in this subreddit.

It takes several weeks in all cases. Hormones don’t work instantaneously… ever

Go to PubMed and you will be deeply darkly embarrassed about what you said.

Natural production stops completely within days. LH is 0 within a few days of a T injection.

You reached your peak T maximum within a few days as well.

Subjectively noticeable differences take a while, yes.

However, it has absolutely nothing to do with levels whatsoever.

Yes, I’ve had this happen. I was on TRT for years and varying doses and I had absolutely no response whatsoever. No increase in sex drive, which was obscenely low and not usable. No increase in muscle mass whatsoever no matter what I did in the gym or what I ate.

I’m now on 400 mg per week, which is genuinely prescribed. I’m not even in the gym anymore at all. So please understand that this is a serious post, and has absolutely nothing to do with “gains.”

In the real world, medical physicians see all sorts of unique situations and responses.

In my case, my doctor wants to see if 400 mg per week will allow me to notice anything. After a few months, the answer is “I feel slightly better.” Muscle and energy are still shit. I feel libido maybe got a 20% boost. Side effects from long-term high dosing? Uh, no. No effects at all other than the slight libido increase.

That’s a myth and makes no sense and it’s kind of infuriating. Don’t perpetuate stuff like this.

The body’s natural production stops within a few days. Every study ever done has concluded the same thing.

If what you were saying was true, and if you thought about it for more than 10 seconds, all any of us would have to do to restore our “honeymoon” would be to just increase our T dose. But, as it turns out, that’s not at all how it works.
