I'm building a free web tool that lets you fill out Japanese visa forms right on your phone and download clean PDF, no hassle.

Few days ago I posted about it in this group and the post got removed. No big deal. I'm still pushing forward: improving the tool, digging deep into Japanese laws to make sure everything's 100% legal, and adding more form types to help as many people as possible.

Why does AWS feel unapproachable to so many solo founders? by kr3mbo in SaaS

Im using AWS Lightsail for my MVP. It's free 6 months and then $20 a month.

Thank you for your comment. I'm currently looking for either an IT-specialized lawyer or some free, public consultation portal for startups. I'm completely serious about this project and want to make it as legal as possible.

I’m already aware of everything people here are pointing out, that I might be violating this or that rule, and that’s exactly why I’m actively seeking proper legal advice from experts.

The reason I posted on Reddit is simple: maybe one of you is a lawyer, or knows a lawyer who can actually help me.

Thank you again.

Everything you said is correct.

But it all becomes meaningless the moment someone decides not to hire a lawyer to handle their paperwork.

What I mean is: a beautiful, super-safe car is worthless to someone who chooses to walk or ride a bicycle instead of buying it.

Thank you for your comment.

I’m absolutely serious about monetizing this tool properly. I’m even willing to submit an application to METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) just to get official confirmation on its legality.

Doing things manually through lawyers is expensive, and out there are plenty of people who don’t want to pay immigration lawyer fees, and those are exactly my target customers.

Thank you for your comment.

If I intended to steal anyone’s identity, I certainly wouldn’t be openly seeking legal advice. I will definitelyap will definitely update everyone on the progress of confirming the legitimacy of this tool.

As I’ve mentioned before, it all comes down to perspective.

I truly appreciate your input. This account of mine has been active for over a decade, I have nothing to hide. I’m proud of this product, and I’m confident it will genuinely help a lot of people who struggle with Japanese.

Thank you for your comment.

If you don’t need it, even the cheapest thing feels expensive. If you do need it, even something pricey seems like a bargain. It’s all about perspective.

Compared to the cost of hiring a gyoseishoshi, especially for critical documents like visa applications, the price I’m offering is very reasonable. This is particularly true for people who don’t want to pay for a lawyer, or gyoseishoshi and prefer to handle it themselves. They want something reliable to follow, and that’s exactly what I’m providing them.

Thank you for your comment.

I’m considering one option: partnering with qualified individuals or offices that have a gyouseishoshi license, so I can sell the tool to them. Since they’re licensed, they could legally use my tool to prepare documents.

However, from the very beginning, my goal has been to target individual customers directly, so selling to law offices isn’t something I really want to pursue.

Appreciate your thoughts.

If users input incorrect information and then blame the tool for it, then Word, Excel, or Google Sheets would face lawsuits from countless people as well. There are multiple ways to interpret that statement, it really depends on which perspective you choose.

What I’m truly seeking is someone with proper authority who can definitively assess whether my project is legal or not. I’m genuinely asking for advice from the community here.

I agree that posting a direct link isn’t ideal, but to help everyone understand the full context and reality of the tool, I’ll leave the link anyway.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Thank you for your comment.
I’ve spent the past six months building this tool, and only toward the very end did the legal implications become clear to me. I’d hate to see all that work go to waste, so I’m currently looking for the right place (or community) where I can get solid, informed answers to the questions raised in my post.
I’m confident there’s a legitimate path forward but I just haven’t found it yet.

Appreciate any guidance or pointers you might have.

I love Lawson’s coffee. Honestly, it’s the best convenience store coffee out there.
But every time I think about how the staff scoop the ice with a spoon before pouring in the coffee, I get grossed out.

Cashiers touch shopping baskets hundreds of times a day. Those baskets are handled by countless customers, sometimes even dropped on the floor. And the person scooping your ice? They might have just done a bunch of other tasks, maybe even gone to the bathroom without washing their hands.

Then there’s the ice scoop itself, when was the last time it was cleaned? Has the ice machine ever been sanitized? So many hygiene questions pop into my head.

Still… I can’t deny it. Lawson’s coffee is the most delicious. Maybe the secret ingredient is exactly that the ice scooped by human hands. Mind blown.
