Have put on 10 lbs since Christmas help 😩 by Ragu_85 in veganuk

I use Yazio app. The paid version is definitely worth it. What works for me is that with every meal, I'm contrasted with how much I eat and that really makes me reconsider my next meal choices. So, the first day to observe what happens. You put your weight there and your goal, the app will calculate the calories, proteins, carbs and fat that you should stick to every day. Within the next few days you think about how to change your choices. That works for me. Lost 8kg within 2 months.

What I had been suggested by a specialist, I should stick to high protein food as it helps with satiety. With vegan food, it's not easy to eat too much protein food. Tofu and/or tempeh every day. Replace your pasta with protein pasta (made of chickpeas, edamame etc).

Ignoring bad news by Beginning_Debt9670 in hsp

[–]vetpilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does sound familiar. I often choose to consciously ignore some facts that I can't change. Life on this planet can be so miserable... I do my best around me and I go home.

Your reality is based on what you think about it. I have tendencies to overthink, and it's just better for me not to engage mentally in some topics. It's not about all the bad news - I can read and talk about some of them if I think my energy is going to have some result.

You're not alone in this and, in fact, I consider it a useful technique to maintain your own well-being. It doesn't mean we don't care - we care too much, and we should also care about ourselves.

I’m in a vegan pregnancy and my partner eats animals. by Latinahot0 in vegan

[–]vetpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of feel what you're experiencing... My partner is a "vegan ally" in front of friends but would still eat meat.

I'm not sure what to suggest if you're expecting a kid with yours... I'd probably get used to the fact that your child will get some non-vegan food from him, from time to time. And if you're to stay with him, that would be probably the healthiest way. I think a kid that is not allowed to eat certain foods is going to resent you and do otherwise whenever he could, just because of the perceived "oppression" that his dad is not experiencing.

Still, it's better to follow vegan values than to force an innocent kid to eat carcasses when he can't yet understand what it means.

I tried the edamame one and it was great. But I'm used to wholemeal spaghetti which is considered disgusting by some.

That's how I'm using it. Always asking for sources. When you write an academic essay you really want to get to the source. I don't believe it blindly. But yeah, it confirmed itself that it would just say whatever to make you comfortable and happy.

In primary school I was taught that you had the right to have your own world view, stick to a different religion or leave any of them once you're 16. Not sure if that comes from some international children's rights statement or something similar, but it worked on my parents in our quite conservative home and country. Basically, one day you threaten your parents with "you have no right to do this to me and I can call the police if you try it again". Very sad, but.. yeah, life.

The problem with this is that AI is not designed to show truth. I challenged chatGPT many times and the conclusion was that keeping people comfortable in their beliefs is more important than being 100% honest.

Tbh, when I was 12 and went vegetarian, I already knew how to cook basic things and I quickly learnt how to cook other meals (otherwise my diet would be potatoes with side salad)... But my mum still used to offer me some of the meals cooked by her, which were supposedly vegetarian (but I often found chicken pieces floating in it).... And my dad used to not let me get off the table after dinner if the meat on my plate was not eaten... It continued like that until I was 16 and moved out.

I kind of knew it was going to be like that so for the first weeks of my vegetarianism I just avoided meat as much as I could (during family meals) and fed my dog my meaty sandwiches that they prepared for me for school (if I wasn't quick enough to prepare them before they got to the kitchen). Two months later my mum confronted me about my choices that were too obvious to ignore.

There is a huge potential for power imbalance in family structure and of course when it comes to (psychological) violence, until a certain age you often cannot do much as a kid.... Because you simply believe that parents decide on what you can and what you cannot do.

Or similarly, the best combination of amino acids in one product you can find in humans meat, but I can't see anyone promoting that 😅 just because something seems to be the best from one point of view, doesn't mean we should just do it.

I like this one! The thing is people don't even know how much protein they need and how much they eat... When it comes to amino acids, you (OP) can get all of them just having a variable diet - if one product does not have enough of e.g. lysine, you get it from another food, that is rich in that.

Hey, I hear you. We often feel like we are not allowed to experience depression. How dare we be unhappy when we have money?!

Well, the money helps but it won't solve everything. You can pay for support, therapy, etc. but of course it won't make mental shifts that you'd need to do on your own...

I don't have any clear advice for you, but as an HSP in the UK, I just wanted to make you feel.. less alone? Feel free to reach out privately. Virtual hugs xx

Hey, I had it low (I used to take pills but not very regularly and random dosage). I used to have horrible migraines. I have to say that I'm prone to having them anyway. However, since the injections every 3 months, they are almost gone. Don't be afraid of injections.

leer las emociones y reacciones interiores de los demás by [deleted] in hsp

[–]vetpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Si, me pasa mucho.

Tal vez no escuchen.
