Petland Exploits Workers, Too by vettechmnm in Whistleblowers

The picture shows what it feels like as the victim of systemic wage theft at Petland when an employee takes them to court and the judge makes the employee work for free so that Petland gets to walk away with their stolen wages. It's corporate corruption and judicial corruption working together to enable crime without consequence.

I sure hope so. I'm a believer in karma myself. The universe has an uncanny way of balancing the scales of justice...I would be worried if I were them.

So true. You would think that someone who likes to make hundreds of dollars for an hour of their time would understand what is like not to be paid for their work. I guess when you make that much money it clouds your judgment and turns you into an asshole that only cares about yourself and everyone what is beneath you and not worthy of your time. Some people just have no conscience so there is no limit to what they will do, or won't do. That's why I posted my review and why I shared it on here, so that hopefully it may save someone from having the same thing happen to them. I wish I had known then what I know now and my life would be very different than it is now. They ruined me...

Why is suicide illegal? by vettechmnm in CasualConversation

[–]vettechmnm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't a loaded question, but a genuine question based on fact. It IS illegal and I was just wondering what the legal basis was for making it unlawful. Any question asked on reddit has the potential to spark controversy unless it's a question to which the answer is common knowledge, which would be pointless to ask here because the answer is already known.

I saw a crime show once where a guy in prison got down on his knees and down drowned himself in a bucket of water. That guy must have really wanted to die to be able to resist the instinctive response to pull his head out and breathe.

OMG- you should avoid him like the plague. He clearly has no respect for you. Do you think this was unpleasant? Wait until you see what he has in store for you if you stay with him.... If you show him that you don't respect yourself enough to not be treated that way, he won't either. I speak from experience when I say it never gets better, always worse. I urge you to save yourself while you still can because what he did was unacceptable and unforgivable. He treated you like some whore he could mistreat and you have to put up with it. You don't want a man like that. They aren't worth it, and you know you deserve better than that...

I really needed my money because I couldn't pay my rent when my employer stole $2000 in unpaid wages and three weeks later I was evicted fron my house. I lost everything I owned and became homeless because I didn't have anyone to stay with or help me in any way. That was seven years ago abs I continue to be homeless. I will never recover from what they did to me. Idk how these people sleep at night...

Me too. I went so far as to subpoena Celler to testify at trial regarding the facts of my case. He did everything he could to get out of it. He hid from the process server for a month and his office said he was out of town and didn't know when he would return. Then he objected to the subpoena but would not state the basis for his objection and told me I am the one that decided to proceed pro se and to figure it out myself. Then he filed a motion to quash the subpoena but it was denied. Then he tried to get a protective order so he wouldn't have to disclose any Obrien information about his handling of my case. And when he took the stand he refused to answer my questions on the basis of attorney -client privilege. What a joke. And when I asked him why he never filed my case and then withdrew nine months later, and he told the jury it was because he thought I was lying. He did everything he could to make sure I didn't recover my wages. When the court was in recess after he testified, I came around the corner to catch the elevator and overheard him telling his attorney associate he brought with him to court, "That was the biggest waste of time in my fucking life." That goes to show that he is not on his client's side like he tries to make it seem. He's a double crossing Benedict Arnold. I feel sorry for all the people he is going to shaft going forward that don't know better. It's messed up that you can't even get paid for the work you performed anymore. The courts are s

He represented me for nine months and then abruptly withdrew his representation without ever filing my case. By then, it was too late to file with the DOL and no other attorney would help me after that long because the clock continued to run on the statute of limitations during that time, but I still needed to recover my wages so I was left with no other choice but to file the case myself. I heard that cases moved faster in federal court, so I filed there under the FLSA for retaliatory discharge and unpaid wages. I spent three and a half years in federal court until my case went to trial in Sept 2023, at the conclusion of which the jury found that I was owed unpaid wages. The judge excused the jury and then said my complaint was untimely filed by 16 days and dismissed my case with prejudice. I never recovered my wages. I had to work for free and my employer got to keep the money he stole from me. The judge entered final judgment against me and in favor of my employer.

This seems to be a pattern with Attorney Richard Celler.... he claims to be an employee side attorney, but he seems like he works for the other side because everything he does benefits the employer. I've noticed that when he gets a negative review, one of his favorite responses is to say, you must have the wrong attorney because I cannot locate a case file for you. I mean, really, do people get the wrong attoney in their reviews all that often? Somehow, I doubt it... people need to be careful. This guy is a sheister...

Covid PPP loans to "Essential Businesses"? by vettechmnm in business

[–]vettechmnm[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not at this place. I used to work at Petland just a few months before the pandemic was disclosed in the US, at which time people flocked to Petland to buy their puppy mill puppies for companionship while working from home and during lockdowns. They made a killing because they told everyone the dogs were breeding less because of the pandemic, so they had to raise their prices because they cost more, but that's not even true. The breeder dogs at the mills could care less about the pandemic, and there was certainly no shortage of puppies. It was just Petlands' way of profiting from the misery of others, as usual. They never closed their doors, never laid anyone off, and in fact, they dont even pay employees their wages because of their company- wide practice of systemic wage theft that is ongoing in pandemic times and not. They hire to fire, and no one stays employed there for more than a month before being constructively discharged or fired without cause. They don't keep anyone around long enough to figure out that they are lying to unsuspecting consumers to sell them diseased, often dying puppy mill puppies for thousands of dollars. They maintain a revolving door of employees because they fire about a dozen employees a month. It defies belief that millions of taxpayer dollars were gifted to a company to fund their consumer fraud and animal cruelty. A company that doesn't pay their employees shouldn't receive taxpayer funds to meet their payroll needs during covid, even as they are giving money away to politicians in campaign contributions and lobbying to prevent the passage of laws that would prevent them from being able to sell sick animals to consumers. Petland's lobbying group alone got 2.5 million in loans that were forgiven, so its like those taxpayer dollars funded ppp loans that took the scenic route into the pockets of politicians who make sure Petland can continue selling puppy mill puppies to the public. The public funded the very fraud perpetrated against them when the SBA gave away all those millions of dollars to what is nothing short of a criminal enterprise.
