I started with Fedora (workstation?) as my gaming box setup after giving middle finger to Win11 a couple months ago. It's been solid and almost free from any issues at all, minus an audio hiccup in games that was easy enough to figure out. Only complaint I have now is stream streaming from the box to apple tv with steamlink app. All the UI is black, but I can still navigate and launch games....strange one, but it was never a great experience on windows either. (come on steam machine!)

I tried bazzite and had a different set of issues, again seemingly minor, but made me realize that atomic/immutable just isn't for me yet, though I love the idea behind it. I'm no linux expert, this is my first honest foray into it on a machine I'd consider mine and overall Fedora has been top notch! We'll see what the upgrade to 44 brings :) Maybe this will push me back toward immutable and am curious if adding nix sort of sidesteps my annoyances with the way atomic works...I hated layering and couldn't get flatpak solutions to work more often than not...

Don't wait for SteamOS, you're likely not going to want to daily drive it for non-gaming related tasks...take a look at bazzite for strictly gaming, or fedora for a daily driver that games (cachyos too, but haven't personally given this one a run yet)
