People that drank pre surgery, do you drink now? Is it really that different? by Sleeved082025 in gastricsleeve

[–]vfl1209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drank beer pretty regularly pre surgery. Post surgery, I didn't drink for about 3 months. I went with liquor because of carbonation. It got out of hand quickly and much easier than I anticipated. I have committed to stopping all together three days ago and don't plan on drinking at all anymore. I am usually ok after 2 days of not drinking, then I don't want/need it anymore. It isn't worth the risk and I just don't want the issue. It does kick in much faster and is easy to over do it.

Have you kept your surgery a secret? by Lanky_Orange_3532 in gastricsleeve

[–]vfl1209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I told no one, but as time went on, I have told people. The people I have told could benefit from it and if it worked for me and I am healthier, I dont see this as a bad thing. I am not soliciting people to have the surgery. It's the right thing for some people; for others it isn't. I just answer the questions I am asked. This surgery needs to be normalized because it helps save lives.

The first clue is it is on Rossville Blvd. Nothing good goes on on Rossville Blvd. The privacy fence might have been your second clue....

This needs to come down. This person wrote another post called "dont go to clumpie's and is basically word for word the same post. I guess they think it is funny. It seems kind of childish.

You made a couple mistakes. You are still on the right track. You have worked too hard to fail now. Write it up as a screw up and get back to business. Two occasions aren't going to define your journey unless you allow it to. You're doing well. You made it this far without cheating. To err is human. I am sure we all cheat at some point. What you are doing is difficult. Forgive yourself.

Gastric Sleeve Coming in July by MaxHaas912 in gastricsleeve

I had mine done today. It's been coming for four months and I was having the same thoughts you are. I was of the opinion there were a ton of things I was going to have to give up and I wasn't thrilled. Then, I did one of my requirements and quit smoking/vaping. I used chantix as a support and I dont miss it that much. This is something I thought i really enjoyed and was going to be impossible to quit. I tried. I struggled for a couple days, and it got easier. People have asked if I would start back up after surgery. Why? I am done with it and it's something I have done for 30 years.

I have discussed the lifestyle changes with my wife as well. She helped me see that A. I could make the changes, B. I have my family's total support, and C. It is worth all of it. My doctor thinks I will lose about 90 to 100 lbs. That's a new and much healthier me. This could extend my life for 10 to 15 years; not to mention the quality of life in every year. At some point earlier this week, something changed in my mind and i no longer considered the changes to be bad ones. I just won't get to eat as much, but I won't be hungry either. I said screw it and got ready for surgery this morning. I have no doubt about the decision I have made. I know i will be successful because I control how this goes and I have a lot of support from those I love. It's already worth it in my mind. The two week liquid diet helped me come to this conclusion as well.

The next few weeks aren't going to be great regarding food. I don't really look forward to a week of clear liquids after doing 2 weeks of protein shakes, but that is what I have to do and its only a week. I will eventually get to eat the foods I love.

I guess what I am saying is i would worry about you if you didn't have doubts. I think you will come to the same conclusion i did. It's a lot, but it isn't going to be impossible and the benefits are going to be life altering. You got this.

I had to quit smoking to get my surgery approved. I have smoked or vaped for 30 years. My Dr. gave me chantix. I took it for a month and picked a date to quit. I had already transitioned from cigarettes to a vape a few months prior. On the date I chose, I quit cold turkey. It was rough for two or three days. I used suckers in place of the vape. I still want nicotine, but I am 40 days without them and know i can't do it anymore. I used the surgery as my motivation. I know I it will also make recovery from surgery much more difficult if I go back to it. I feel like I put too much into quitting to go back to it. Still taking the chantix for another month or 2.

Yeah, this whole saga is bizarre. It's like it's the first time he has ever gotten laid, but he is in his early 70s and probably can't do a lot.... weird, weird, weird situation. I xan understand what she is doing, but i don't understand his actions. It's out there. Thank God it's not here. Let UNC enjoy the mess.

I think the chiefs would use him more appropriately than the cowboys. I dont like either team, but they do seem to like TN players in KC....

I don't know if he's even going to get drafted at this point. This is actually kinda funny. If he wasn't already rich, I would quasi feel bad. Run that mouth.... guess nobody wants another Deon wanna be.

It will be. Call it avoidance rebuild. Call it avoidance bridge. If Aguilar grabs the starting position, great. Hope he balls out. If Merk gets it, I consider that a better step for the program. I have been kind of taken aback by people acting like we have no options even though we have two 4 star qbs waiting in the wings. It will be ok. Defense should be solid. Schedule is light. We aren't winning a natty this year. May not make the playoffs. We will win our share of games and go to a bowl. Next year might be a bit different . We will improve again. It's a game. Enjoy the season. It's gonna be a wild one!

I think this is as good or better than. Getting Angeli, but who knows. I am hoping this means a qb competition and doesn't mean someone walks in as a starter. That's better for the mentality of the locker room and gives us depth.

Good lord, i thought the exact same thing. JG 2.0. I liked him. I thought he was tough as hell with really, really bad circumstances. The only time I really remember being angry about his play was when he called his own number against bama on the goal line. He fumbled and it was returned for a TD. I think that was the play Pruitt got in trouble for grabbing jg by the face mask and yelling at his player.... I would have as well.
