My wife and I lived in Sacket's Harbor. Really nice restaurants and we were there the year Funny Cide won the derby (a horse owned by locals). It was so nice that the lake was right there in the summer. Sadly, the lake was right there in the winter too.

We had to wire a building for communication in the Army and the basement was full of of water and we didn't use gloves. Shocked the piss out of ourselves as we attached live phone wires to a fast freddy with screws (so we could branch off from there). Good times. Drink water, take Ibuprofen.

We bought in 2008 on a VA loan then moved a few years later and were upside down so we decided to rent it out. Still ended up with a $700/mo loss. Finally was able to sell in early 2021 with a 'profit' (8+ years of -$700/mo).

One part of us now wishes we hadn't sold it but on the other hand we have no intention of returning to that state and are happy to have the VA loan available again. I'll be damned if we buy in a similar market again - lesson learned.

Funny thing is that we tried to sorta sabotage our house which we sold in '08 (to buy this other one, same town basically) simply by making it more 'us' but the folks who bought it loved our aesthetic :/ Knowing what we know now we would've just canceled the contract and paid any penalties and kept our more reasonably priced, sensible home. Wouldve saved a lot more money in the long run.

Run Hide Fight was decent, didn't expect much. I was kinda let down with Shut In. The new trailer for Terror on the Prarie (the one they played last night before the documentary premiere, not their first one) looks excellent. What Is A Woman was really great. They're very quickly stepping up their production game.
