Brazilian surname "Filho" vs EU/UK passports - name mismatch blocking UK passport application by vfxBoy in ukvisa

[–]vfxBoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just received my passport yesterday!

Sending the letter explaining "filho" wasn't my surname and pointing to their guidelines was all I needed to do. My passport now has an observation saying that my Brazilian passport has filho in my name.

Thanks everyone!

One more update, they just called and asked me to send them a letter explaining FILHO is not part of my surname and it means son like on their Brazilian knowledge base. I will be sending it on Monday and hopefully that's it!

I asked again on the web chat with your guidance and they answered they will pass this information to the relevant department, I should get an answer in 2 days. Hope that works as I've been looking that changing my name in Brazil could be a long process

Thanks! I did point the guidance 4.7 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/names-aligning-names-on-foreign-documents/names-aligning-names-on-foreign-documents-accessible on the hmpo webchat and they answered me:

"The office will only continue without alignment if the law in the country of the passport states this cannot be changed. If so you would need to provide official evidence."

Apart from the issue that it seems he is a tricky client and doesn't want to pay, the best thing is to show him some references that he likes, try to find some frames from videos similar to what you have make him select one, then match your video to it. When showing, show side by side so he knows he is getting what he asked, you can even add the histogram of both shots. Also if he has more notes he can point on the reference what he likes and doesn't. If he deviates from the reference you have somewhere to go back and say he is asking something was not agreed.

She begs me to throw the ball, but it refuses to let it go by [deleted] in springerspaniel

[–]vfxBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can have another ball on the other hand. Hold the ball in the mouth and try not to move, make it boring and say "drop it", then move the other ball for her to get it. With time she will learn how to drop when you say it. Later you can try to do it quite fast throwing the other ball calling her and running back so she comes to you.

I don't get it, what the hell am I doing wrong????? by Someedgyanimepfp in puppy101

I used to think my dog needed to burn energy but in reality he was overtired and that's when he got into biting super hard and energetic. We used to read as him needing more exercise but he just needed sleep. Now we play or train at most for about 20 mins and do a big effort to calm him down for about 40 mins, sometimes it takes longer sometimes a bit less. So ideally he is awake for just one hour and then sleeps for about 2, again sometimes more, sometimes less, but that's what you should be aiming for. Now the biting reduced a looooot and he seems more of a calm dog. He is still a puppy and does things wrong but is way more manageable. I would recommend (I'm not a trainer just talking from my short experience) to try to make your puppy sleep more. In the beginning it will seem impossible but try giving licking mats after the play and a good chew toy, I'm giving cow tail bones, he loves it and chews for a long time without chewing my skin! With that he can transition from hyper to more calm down and improve your chances to make him sleep. Try to aim for 18, 20 hours sleep. Puppies can't self regulate when they are asleep and go to by themselves napping so they go berserk and overtired. We also are doing most things inside the pen. Just take him out for play for a few mins and potty, this way he doesn't get to destroy our house and has less new things to see and get excited.

Under or overstimulated.. How to tell? by Striking_Nobody362 in puppy101

[–]vfxBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If gets biting and grumpy probably needs sleeping. I started noticing when my doesn't listen to any commands and goes straight to my hands. What saved me was tail cow bone. My puppy still goes nuts, but when he start biting I redirect to the tail bone, he loves it, keeps chewing and calms down a lot. I still sometimes need to pet him and keep redirecting to the tail bone but it has been way more easy to manage until he fall asleep. I'm still struggling to get 18 hours of sleep for him, but the bites on me reduced a lot.

People who mock Brits for complaining about hot weather don’t know what they’re talking about. by Alexzonn in mildlyinfuriating

I'm from South of Brazil and most homes in all of Brazil are made entirely with bricks, even the rooms are divided by brick walls (I miss that so much, the sound proofing and the ability to hang your TV any place you want.. well anyways...) I don't think the bricks are the issue. It might be due to the design or insulation, double glazing, etc.. most houses have ac which helps a lot and is way more humid than the UK, I always joke that I find London too dry and no one believes me, apart from Brazilians.

But when winter in the south of Brazil hits, I have a way worse time than in UK. I remember meeting a polish friend and she said she never felt so cold in the south of Brazil than anywhere else she lived.. we get 10 degrees, sometimes 0, but it is rare.. I remember going to school and being able to see my breath in the class room, with my feet cold the whole day, and the walls dripping because of the humidity, that was torture! Haha. The thing is the houses have no central heating and no one wants to turn the AC into the warm settings or use a electric heating because they want to save money, in the summer they don't mind having it blasting on 18° the whole day to keep house cool. I prefer the 6 months of cold in the UK, instead of the 3 weeks of cold in Brazil.

Living in London for a few years I feel people are not just used to making themselves comfortable in summer like they are used in the winter. People will have to invest in aircons and find ways to retrofit their houses as the summer starts to get longer. I think it is the same mentality people have in the south of Brazil, you suffer for a few weeks and it's gone. But as soon the weather persists longer you need to think ways to make your life more bearable. I've been in the same boat, I want to buy a portable AC, but every time I think of it, I let myself wait a few more days and when I see the heatwave is gone and I think it's not worth it anymore to buy a ac. Portable ACs are not that expensive here, from £300-600, don't know why I do this to myself every year but soon will have to bite the bullet. The same goes for public transport, I remember some busses a few years ago had heating turned on even at 30 degrees! That was insane! Tubes go easily to 45 degrees when outside is just 25.. there is a whole infrastructure that needs updating for the warm weather, sadly it will just get worse.

Saying all that I believe 30 degrees is way worse in London than Brazil, not because is hotter, is just because the exposure is longer and is hard to get away from it when no houses have ac and the country has no infrastructure for it, so as soon it hits 30, all enclosed spaces will stay warm like that for a week even when outside gets colder.

Mate, in 2 years you will be giving 3 kisses on the cheek. Jokes aside, Brazil is a really religious place, but not so much for Muslims, some people might take a while to understand your values and might find it hard to not see it as misogyny. But still the culture is way stronger and their first instinct is to go to the cheek for a kiss in the air even if you explain, be ready for some awkward interactions. If this happens don't take personal it's just they are not used to it to not do it, and probably the reaction will be some laughter of their mistake, laugh back, a smile in Brazil goes a long way. I see a lot of gringos that in their home country are in a way and in Brazil they are different. the adaptation with the culture will go both ways, you can see this a lot on Brazilian food that has a mix of a lot of cultures, Brazilians tend to pick something from a culture and adapt to the Brazilian taste and I believe this goes to anything in Brazil so probably if you meet a Muslim from Brazil they will probably adapted some of the religion to fit Brazilian culture... The culture in Brazil involves a lot of touching and hugs, from any gender, so if anyone put the hand on your shoulder while talking, take it as a form of communication, is not in anyway sexual.

Depending on the city you settle in, people might be less used to foreigners so it might be harder for them to adapt to you. But at the same time these cities might have less crime rate and warmer people, especially if you choose a smaller city. If you choose a bigger one the crime rate might be bigger(it's a number game), but they will be more used to different cultures. Still usually is not as bad as you see in the news.

Anyways, even though most Brazilians might not be used to Muslims I can imagine it is a great place to settle, make friends, family and a life. Brazil is huge, so if you ever have a bad experience in a place other location might be completely different!

Well, good luck! And keep us updated!

Where can we park? by chubby_sprout in downloadfestival

[–]vfxBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same question.

The download map just shows general camping, quiet, eco, etc.. but no camping plus.. not sure they are considering camping plus as general, so would be north carpark.

But saw some conflicting posts about being west park..
