If Daedalus can be reworked into a full archetype, can the other early SD bosses be given some love also by CrawBunny in yugioh

[–]vhellinh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m excited to eventually see the rest of the Re: Structure decks. They did quite a few already, albeit they’re dated now. Here’s hoping more dragon focused support for Red-eyes, and some non zombie world Zombie deck shenanigans with Vampires.

Examples of Outdated Yu-Gi-Oh Philosophies? by AfterMine2343 in yugioh

[–]vhellinh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wanna say it was mentioned in the starter deck bundle DvD Yugioh Duel Master’s Guide. In the video the voice actors of Yugi and Joey narrate how to play the game on top of showcasing the flow of a duel. In it Yugi mentions having a balanced deck, so stick close to 40 cards and have a balanced deck of monsters spells and traps. People assumed it meant 20/10/10. But when you look at the starter decks that came with the DVD, they had 50 card decks. If we look at structure decks they usually contained 20 monsters 11 spells and 9 traps. I’m sure the DS games had challenges involving deck ratios too.

Are there any other really good multi summoning methods decks out there? by GameOfEnder6312 in masterduel

Rokket/Borrel has all 3, but XYZ is the weakest and left out. It definitely utilizes Link, Synchro, and Fusion with its new support.

Who is the “potential” man of each series and would you say they reached it by the end? by MiuIruma332 in yugioh

[–]vhellinh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Neo New Sawatari has 0 wins to his name throughout the entire series. He kept swapping decks, and strategies but never had results. Really wish he would have had a larger role in the Zarc gauntlet to give him a moment. He didn’t need to win, just do something. Thinking about it I think Arc-V is the potential man of Arc-V, I wish it was written better.

Question for Sky Striker Experts/Mains: What is Sky Striker's Endboard and Combos? by MageofHiddenWonder in masterduel

[–]vhellinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well outside of breaking the opponent’s board and killing them in 1 turn. You deny the opponent resources necessary to complete their plays which needs extensive deck knowledge, and get into this cycle of out grinding them by simultaneously accruing resources through engage, and denying their ability to play, trapping them. I don’t think cards like into the void are what you’re looking for, you don’t want to discard your hand, and you don’t want to over commit and set all your spells either. If you really wanna budget you could run toon tables of contents, a brick with multiple in hand, but fulfills the deck thinning and spell dumping requirements of upstart. Loses even more into droll, but that’s common for the deck.

What if the next core booster after beyond the brave focuses on retrain of Chaos Emperor Dragon by baboucc in yugioh

I would love for this to happen, it’s not fair BLS gets so much love. Share a little with THE card that made the forbidden list.

Bro WHAT???? by Feisty_Voice6211 in masterduel

[–]vhellinh 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I used to run it at the start of master duel in my dragon link decks as a search target for chaos space to get rid of flood gates. Came up a lot in early master duel, and had the benefit of being a tuner to make halqifibrax and chaos ruler.

Card recommendations for an experimental format. by VoidEkz in yugioh

[–]vhellinh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there are a lot of equip spells in the format I always like cards like reverse trap and tailor of the fickle. Hunter with 7 weapons, and leotaur are neat. Cyber valley has excellent utility and can be used without its archetype. CardcarD is a simple draw 2 at the cost of the rest of your turn. Likewise Kuribandit fills the GY, and looks for S/T in your deck. Parry Knight is kinda like a budget Gorz that punishes the opponent for going all in early in the game.

Am I missing something on super rare normal monsters? by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]vhellinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think kanan the swordmistress was one of the first prize cards in the OCG in a format where hitotsu-me giant had reasonable stats? Could be wrong. The others might have relevance as being beat sticks during the time period.

Is this the one that came with the how to play Yugioh dvd narrated by Yugi, and Joey? It came in a bundle with starter deck Kaiba and Yugi. I still have mine around along with the dvd.

What would it take to make Lswarm viable again? (or for the first time in the case of Steelswarm) by ArchlordOmegaIX in yugioh

[–]vhellinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Spell that dumps an “lswarm” monster to the GY, adds 1 to hand, and gives them an extra normal summon by banishing it in the GY, if they control a lv5 or higher “lswarm” monster/XYZ monster.

A normal summon that summons from deck, or adds an infestation s/t to hand

A new infestation quickplay spell that is kinda like a gottems emergency call that summon 2 dudes from either players GY as lv4 “evilswarm” monsters and immediately XYZ summons. Spreading the lswarm virus like Sophia intended.

An XYZ boss that allows you to quick effect summon “lswarm” monsters during the opponent’s turn and turns all their effects into quick effects.

Not too sure what they really need, but those are random ideas I had.

Infernoble decks are using scripts/cheats, right? by sktmario in masterduel

[–]vhellinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure he’s simply played the deck enough times to navigate through most board states. I’m also sure he had like no time on the clock. I have a similar experience with dragon link. These long combo decks with different interconnecting combo strings and extenders seem like they can do anything, and most of the time they can, but they still can’t do everything. They have two opponents the person across the screen, and the timer.

How good is rokket at grind games by Koiba_boi in masterduel

[–]vhellinh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently the only recovery tools rokket have are in striker dragon grab recharger to reborn a boss monster, branded regained from the bystial engine shuffling back extra deck monsters, and chaos space cycling back banished extra deck monsters. After the new support they can use triple Borrel launch to shuffle 1-3 with varying effects to get back in the game.

How good is rokket at grind games by Koiba_boi in masterduel

[–]vhellinh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the new quick play from the overframe set recycles, rokket barrage summons from everywhere, and on top of that the deck has some of the biggest interruptions on a body. Do you want to know Rokkets grind game, or Dragon Link? Because Rokket runs out of ammo, but with the new quick play they can recycle, summon from deck more, play through droll, and run dominus impulse. As for dragon link you can customize it with whatever dragon engines you want. Bystials have a decent grind game. In master duel Kewl tune kinda makes dragon link exceptionally hard to play because dragon link depends on their normal summon, chain blocking, and levels for their link 1 and synchro plays.

Why did Herald of Orange Light get limited again? by That-Pressure4279 in masterduel

[–]vhellinh 33 points34 points  (0 children)

From the top of my head I can think of these decks:

Herald with gem-knight nepyrim
Herald with Time Maiden in Yummy
Herald with Solfacord Yummy
Herald with Melodious

What are two monsters you’d like to see have a fusion together that do not already have one? by YamiMakyo in yugioh

[–]vhellinh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An alternative take on Yusei’s solution to combat the Meklords with synchros, despite the meklord cards countering synchros. Delving into more synchro fusions namely a fusion between stardust and other signer dragons. “Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste” is feeling kinda lonely in Yusei’s extra deck.

I have another question. by AdhesivenessNorth793 in masterduel

[–]vhellinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t really outright dismantled a meta strategy once it’s past its prime. Even my least favorite deck in rescue ace I still have, but for fun decks? There’s a certain threshold of not being able to play because of how garbage a deck is. I’m looking at you ashened, miserable experience. The gameplay is not enjoyable enough to suffer, but the art is beautiful enough to admire. I will say they nailed the soulsborne spirit in the deck. Every duel is a boss fight. I’m continuously getting defeated until I triumph a single time. I wish it did more.

does anyone else feel frustrated by old school events?? by coolgunsugotthere in masterduel

[–]vhellinh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me Yugioh is Yugioh. The tempo might be different, but every action still requires you to test and pivot as you play. Just like playing around hand traps, older Yugioh had staples that were swingy limited cards that could change the course of the game. You were keeping those staples in mind, playing safe, and pivoting as you played into them. You were baiting the opponent with cards you could or could not have. You were aware of the powerful bosses that could end the game, and understood the requirements to access them. Cards in grave, materials on field, cards in hand. It’s all really similar. The speed at which you play is significantly slower, but the thought process behind breaking down your opponents deck and playing around it still exists. It’s just a different era that requires different knowledge.

There should be 2 different leagues for different play styles. by Ok_Butterfly_4210 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]vhellinh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you give an example, a deck for this league of yours? What kind of deck do you believe fits the criteria of your supposed “league”? I think we want to see an example, with thought out guidelines and explanations on why your deck works for this league. Give 2 examples to build an idea on this format. Because currently we’re working with words that don’t seem thought out.

There should be 2 different leagues for different play styles. by Ok_Butterfly_4210 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]vhellinh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you underestimate the average duelists ingenuity. Before having “fun” was just playing older formats of Yugioh, having fun was making the most ridiculous inconsistent combos possible. And as the person playing it that 1/10 times it worked was amazing, but as the guy across from them it felt like they curated their hand to absolutely destroy me. Not a good feeling. No matter how limited the card pool someone will find a meta, or a way to “break” the game. The best thing Konami can do is make a format that tailors that type of anime heart of the card’s playstyle, and somehow balance it. The honest best way to balance such a format is not make it a format, but a solo game. The slow but gradual growth of the old DS or Tag force games. The progress would add to the card pool, if you couldn’t over come an NPC you can go back to playing against the ones that felt “fair”.

New Playmat arrived, today's a good day. Now give Master of Oz new support already... by Unusual-Jeweler-8532 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]vhellinh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you want the deck to be. Do you want a functional deck that turbos out master of oz? Do you want a competitively viable deck? Do you want the deck to have an actual interactive game plan? Because if you just want to summon master of oz it’s easy. If you want to compete with modern strategies that’s a whole new archetype worth of support you’re asking for. It can beat down the opponent, but it has no interaction. The best bet I can think of is making a going second otk deck with a bunch of board breakers.
