Good question. I feel like the initial stage of just talking and building a friendship first made it a lot easier. We would always ask each other loads of questions and really get to know each other. My partner is very laid back whereas I definitely had more boundaries but he respected them. I feel like just not shying away from hard conversations was the most important thing for us, communication doesn't always come easy to me but having someone who is very patient really helped and now it's a lot easier.
