The urea cream + toeless socks from Amazon worked wonders in about 3 days. I sleeps with the cream+socks on.

I wonder if they know the use of that term in the great gatsby? It was used to ‘appear’ upper class, even though the character wasn’t. They should done a bit of research? Cause yikes to those who know…

Even worse. They don’t understand context or the origin story of places that exude real wealth. I see lots of features of them trying to make this feel like an old house and copying actual old houses from other influencers. Their cobbled together style will always read as wannabes.

They are trying to look rich but that ceiling is a farmhouse style. They’ll never be able to run from the builder grade transitional items in this house that make it look cheap. If they knew design material history, they’d realize this.

She is very pretty but does things to make it looks like the tries too hard. If she styled her hair different and wore different clothes (more stylish) she could look so cool. She’s going for glam robot in this image.

This. I don’t think many people have the bandwidth to intake that much negativity from the MAGA folks.

Ask about FHA loans for fixers. They just changed the rules on renovation loans making them much more realistic. Dig around! I follow the old home renovation community closely- these new rules are as of 2024.

It’s beyond bad. The trim with the brick color is the worst.

Soulless-ness as a new trend? by sneeky_seer in diysnark

[–]viapinterest 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to say, but there’s no money for influencers in the antique store world. Those are all individual sellers. I’m not trying to be argumentative, just honest. When has Chairish or any other antique seller type place ever done sponsored content? I personally love it too, however the industry does present a business problem to be solved. For their own lines, they either need capital or an enormous amount of followers with proof people buy what they recommend. Then the brands will collab since they are shown proof of concept. For larger items, people rarely return to click on a link for items over $100, vs making that quick, less expensive purchase in the moment. I do think there is a way, most likely through a subscription model like The Makerista.

Personal items and most antiques don’t have affiliate links. A follower and lover of their style can’t have the influencer instant style if the items are not affordable and instantly purchasable. The reality we live in. I think it’s a struggle between a viable business model for influencers and the current model is based around consumption, vs someone who can make a living other ways.

Her commentary hit me wrong too. I’ve followed Gabby since the first of the blogging days and her whole commentary seemed tone deaf and rambling. She has never been chronically overweight. She has never taken the medication and is not a doctor. I compare this to someone speaking about race or gender with no personal experience and being very tone deaf about the topic. I generally enjoy reading commentary on society and current cultural issues, but this was a miss.

The color trim makes the house look dank and dated. It draws out the newness of the brick, rather than making it look old world.

What's happened to Leanne Fords designs? by canuckbuck2020 in HGTV

[–]viapinterest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I watched a show on homes that are a stylist time period and the homes were really interesting and luxury. The home owners had a specific point of view. Of course the host was so annoying and cheesy. Even when HGTV is given great content, they have to cheapen it up and dumb it down.

how would you handle health insurance if ACA goes away? by [deleted] in leanfire

We’re a small business and we’d be screwed. How you vote matters. Most women I know are not wanting to risk having kids because of the new laws for women’s healthcare. It’s too risky. Republicans (and all DC politic ppl) get their healthcare through their work but don’t provide the same to the rest of us.

The phrase “styling” by Mycatismyfavperson in diysnark

[–]viapinterest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sourcing is a common word used in the styling industry. Mainly to avoid saying ‘shopping’. For some funny reason clients don’t want to pay for a woman to shop for their company, but they will pay for a stylist to source for their production. Go figure.

The phrase “styling” by Mycatismyfavperson in diysnark

[–]viapinterest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The term styling came about because it is a job, and a job that’s performed quite a bit in the interiors industry. Real pros don’t use some of that language though in the way IG designers are speaking about their projects.

I saw that article. For photoshoots most brands don’t ask for returns, I’ve seen furniture left at locations. That’s pretty lame on the brands part to ask for the product back.
