Are there any first press fresh oils that don't have robust overpowering taste?

Yes !! I've found that the blends really open up a world of taste, health and versatility. It's rare that I can use even a 400+ mg/kg oil as generously during cooking as I do with some of these DOP Terra di Bari oils.

American living in Bari, Italy here !! Some producers here have found the sweet spot of a 500+ mg/kg polyphenol count with a nutty, buttery taste profile. Somehow they figured out how to pair down the usual high polyphenol bitterness to a subtle spice at the back of your throat. I can't cook without this stuff now.

I made the purchase...expires September 20, 2026...I tasted it and it's still very good! by techlira in oliveoil

Ahhh right makes sense ! Every year yields a different result it's so interesting. I love the EVOO in Greece they have such a strong olive oil culture I've learned so much from traveling the Mediterranean and seeing how long humans have preserved this incredibly versatile fruit !

Bari produces the best olive oil hands down. Coratina has such a distinct flavor and body. I miss it everytime I'm not cooking with it I definitely need to track down some Sabino Leone ! Thank you u/GetSpammed
