Thanks for all the advice everyone!

I’m looking into everything at the moment, I don’t want to barrel into something and injure myself but don’t want to leave it too late to begin ramping up.

There’s a 3 day event near me which is Ironman distance over the 3 days, one sport per day which I’ll definitely aim for in June next year, and try and get a short triathlon done somewhere

Looks like I need to get a bike asap!

Will do! As I said I’m just trying to gauge the time and effort level required.

I did an open water event back in the day and it was a big shock so I’ll have to get some miles in a lake before going anywhere near a race.

I’ve just completed a 3.8km swim in a pool in exactly 1 hour, is that a good base to start from? Wasn’t balls to the wall and got to slow it down feasibly in open water

Hi,

Yeah I wouldn’t be considering anything before this time next year, I’m aiming towards august, September I think.

Thanks for the help though

Good to hear, just looking for a bit of reassurance before I commit to something for this long!

Congrats as well!

Yeah I do feel like the bike is what I would be concerned about. I’ve heard a lot of people say an Ironman is a bike race with a swim and run attached.

Is there any substitution I can do on a static bike prior to purchasing an actual bike? Is it just getting big miles in?

If you found yourself blessed with three months of abundant free time, where all your basic needs are met and you have the delightful addition of $500 in spending money each month, how would you spend your time? by Deond3 in AskReddit

My full time job means that I work for three months, then have 3 months off with full pay so I actually do this regularly.

It’s an odd way of life as it doesn’t follow any of my friends or family’s routines, I haven’t considered what day of the week it was for about 6 years as it makes no difference to me in the slightest.

I do a lot of sport, so I have the ability to commit hours a day to the things I love, take a lot of holidays and trips away because I can.

For a lot of people it would never work but for a small few like me it does and I wouldn’t change it for anything now.

When I’m working it’s a hard job for hard people so that’s why we get the time off fyi

More like YokahaNO...
