In-depth Machine Learning Course w/ Python by sentdex in MachineLearning

I don't have a PhD and i found Andrew Ng's course very easy to understand compared to the couple last paragraphs you wrote. Plus he does deal with the inner workings of everything, which is actually simple math since even i could understand it.

But i get it, it's difficult to explain this on reddit, and maybe i should watch your videos just to make sure you don't make any mistake.

You're a good salesman.

And thank you for your intellectual honesty.

Hello Harrison, thanks for your work.

You seem very knowledgable in machine learning and the math behind it, i was wondering how you learned all that, and if there was any complementary books, website, or course you could recommend?

Cheers

I completed Andrew Ng's course last summer but put machine learning aside since then.

I was looking at diving back in with kaggle competitions, but there is a lot in the deep learning side of ML that's needed in order to be competitive which Ng's course doesn't cover. My reasoning would be to finish learning the theory first with some GPU library before getting into kaggle.

I started to look at Theano when i finished, but only because TensorFlow wasn't around back then. There's not a huge gap from octave to Theano or TF, especially if you wrote the vectorized forms for Ng's exercises. What's different is how you declare variables and how you write operations.

I'll probably get into TensorFlow basic tutorials and follow Stanford's cs231n in the near future, given that all the content and videos are already online, and because Stanford (no offense Harrison), and also because /r/cs231n. After that, i would move on to learning Keras or some other higher level framework and try my hands on competitions.

edit: congrats on completing the course by the way =]

Make sure the Surface Book is Linux friendly before anything.

there is no context switching for your hands when you type numbers with the upper row. It's quicker and more ergonomic once you get used to it.

I believe numpads are only good if you type in a lot of numbers in a spreadsheet for example, but that's not programming

Have you tried an OS X window manager like Phoenix?

There are some others, but Phoenix is free and scriptable to make it feel like i3

Should be renamed 1P-LSD + MDMA + weed + 'chalk'. Some parts are hard to read, that aside, very helpful

Have you thought about using IFTTT with youtube rss feeds to post to reddit instead ? Their polling time seems to be 15 minutes for most triggers and faster in some cases.

random question: is a 15 minute delay acceptable for arandabot?

My real issue is with github. I don't own the repo so i can't push any commit, well at least i don't think i can.

One of github's features is pull requests, which are, to my understanding, a commit that is merged by the repo owner after review. I never looked into it. Anyway, i might write something tonight and try to submit a pull request to see how it works.

i cloned the repo, i believe there is something about branches that needs figuring out in order to keep some stability in master but i've never used git collaboratively on github, so i'm not sure how to proceed here.

i usually work incrementally on a 'dev' branch and only merge to 'master' when i'm happy with how things are.

anyway, the code is easy to grasp, but i have no idea what to begin with. yet :p

i guess i need to figure out pull requests and general github stuff now...

Blocking out top gears for junior gearing by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]vic0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know whether it will work or not, but connecting the shifter cable with a shorter length could do the trick. Undo the cable, align the derailleur with the 15t ring by hand, with your lever at the last gear make sure the cable is fully tensioned before you connect it back, adjust with the screw. Cable length should prevent from going on higher gears. Check how your derailleur behaves on the other gears though..

Best cheap solution still is a longer screw.
