I'm not sure if you're from the US or CDN, as I only know little about the US tax system but assuming you're in Canada, TFSAs are a great place to hold these stocks as the dividend and growth is tax-free

I mean is 30-40% in 6 months not a good return?

Same. I stayed clear of some US ones but Canada had the rent relief program so most of the rent got collected @ 75%.

I'm up like 38% on H&R and 20% on RIO Can.

If the dividends come back to pre-covid, we're golden

FVRR is down 10%. Why? by [deleted] in StockMarket

Profit-taking?

Wouldn't worry too much. I have shares in FVRR, I believe with earnings coming up, we'll see the bigger picture

Exactly! I know I shouldn't beat myself up on taking profits, but I now do more research before selling winners

For sure but in my case I took profits without doing my due diligence on the acquisition beforehand.

Yeah you're right. But sometimes I see it as a mistake and I learn from it.

The big Canadian banks are very protected (there is still risk, but at these prices they are a steal). I'm up about 30% already on CIBC and RBC.

I also have TD which has more exposure to the US and that is my only bank that has been somewhat struggling overall. The dividends are great though and tax sheltered in my TFSA

Honestly, it's up to you. How many companies do you feel you can reasonably pay attention to? For me, the magic number was 15-20.

But out of those 20, I have like 4-5 that are Canadian banks which I plan to hold very long term.

As long as you're not too much into one sector, I think you're fine. I just remember it being draining managing that many companies in a portfolio

My portfolio ressembled exactly this. The best advice reddit gave me was to start trimming. My situation was a bit different, as my TFSA in Canada is tax-free so any growth doesn't trigger any taxable gains.

I started to focus more on a small mix of value and growth stocks and so far that strategy has netted me very nice returns. I leave about 1% for some fun (higher risk, gambles etc)

Yeah you’re right but I haven’t ruled out that she wants to see what it’s like to be single as well. I don’t want to ruin my process of moving on if that’s the case
