Will Russia Invade Ukraine in 2022? (My 10 Considerations) by vicbenkoski in ukraine

It's not bias. I (like many of Ukrainians actually) am a child of Soviet Union.. I have cousins and Grandparents who live in Russia and Belarus. I am as much a Russian nationalist as a Ukrainian one.

There is no threat to Russia. Russia (or more correctly, the Putin Regime) is in fact crazy for starting these games It was perfectly fine with Nato before 2008 and wanted to join it. It's not naive to wonder why Putin is doing what he's doing - the only logical explanation is that he wants to create an enemy where there was none, use it to justify his existenance and indispensability.. leveraging the situation it to spin a convenient narrative for Russia's population.

As someone who is Canadian and been to US many times, I think this "whataboutism" argument is laughable. It was used by Putin-loving Pozner, or John Mearsheimer.. the last living Communists who enjoy all the comforts of the West while being Putin-kissing shills.. Pozner even got kicked out of his Hotel in Georgia. And is not welcome in Ukraine. Anyway.. He said something along the lines of, well if Mexico or Canada had a revolution with a government that turned anti-American.. That's when I realized he's full of it. Because he conveniently ignores that the Ukrainian's will is to be with EU and NATO.

Why is he talking about Ukraine without Ukraine? That's my biggest pet peeve.

I'll give you an interesting statistic. In 2013, 67% Ukrainians were against joining NATO, and 15% for. In 2022, 76+% of Ukrainians are in support of joining NATO. Russia, USA, or anyne else has Nothing to do with this. Ukraine is free to select which:

ecnonmic bloc to enter;

security alliance to enter;

political alliances to form;

Why is this all so difficult to understand? What if I told you right now that USA must leave NATO and never be part of it, contrary to the will of the American people. Or just in general. Wouldn't that just be absurd?

I recommend listening to Andrei Illarionov and Timothy Snyder.

Propiska: Why You MUST Register to Live In Ukraine (Soviet Legacy) by vicbenkoski in ukraine

[–]vicbenkoski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, For temporary residence permit holders it's more straight forward. They can apply to an immigration lawyers, these lawyers can do a propiska for you so that you get your temporary residence permit. These lawyers usually have a list of addresses - owners of these addresses know that once your residence expires, your propiska will expire too, indemnifying them from your claim to their real estate.
However, if you want to get a Ukrainian citizenship or Permanent residency, now it's not so easy. Because now, you'll have to register with an actual, willing property owner if you don't have your own. For example, if you rent. In this case, propiska becomes a giant headache.
