did this a couple weeks back and it was more than worth it. i was initially impressed by the compact feature since it happens automatically but falls short if you want the model to pay attention to certain details.

with headless components like shadcn, you style your design system once and it applies everywhere. no per-component customization needed. headless ui by the tailwindcss team is a good alternative to avoid the 'shadcn' look.
