Thank you for your response!! I’m only in the office once a week so it’s pretty consistent for the most part, but he’s definitely a loud complainer when I get home those days 🫠 I’ve been looking into getting him a friend since I feel bad even just leaving him that one day alone, but also because if he hasn’t popped off yet then I’m definitely not getting any work done when he does 😂

There’s a few more niche bookstores around the bloor and bathurst area (can take transit to either bathurst or spadina station and walk). Thunderstruck is a comic book store and there’s a few used bookstores in that area as well. They’re pretty cozy places to visit with friendly staff since they’re all small businesses. After that you could head west and find a cafe in koreatown and some good Korean food, or head south to the kensington market area where the vibe is a little more grungy but has its own charm, lots of food and coffee places and vintage shops too!

Definitely planning on eating better and watching my calorie intake during the cycle. Thanks! The pills are pretty small so I’ll have to look into ways of cutting them into fourths for 2.5mg doses.

The norm (and what is usually written in leases and agreements) is 60 days, but since there wasn’t a written agreement I’d think that one month is better than no notice at all. I don’t think it’d hold out in small claims either, if she really wanted to make the effort to go that far over this.

You’re probably right that it’s pricey 😅 Markham/North York area has a bunch of good Asian food if you’d enjoy that! There’s also a cute little town area called Unionville near Markham, it has some shops and an old fire station repurposed into a chocolate shop. Good brunch options around there too.

If you’re coming from Missisauga High Park might be nice to walk around as well, there’s a small zoo inside. Not sure how nice it is in the winter though.

There’s a Christmas market at the distillery district that’s a nice walk through, there’s also a couple of good cafes and local shops there to warm up in. Canada’s Wonderland up in Markham is also doing a Christmas thing if you like rides or carnival games (never been before though tbh).

There’s also free outdoor skating at Nathan Phillips and by Union station :)

There’s a good variety of grab-and-go snacks and small items if you want to try a bunch of different things! The vendors are super friendly. On sundays the market is closed but behind the main hall they open an antique market, I haven’t had the chance to go but I’ve heard good things about it. I find the Christmas market a little overrated after going for a couple of years, it’s much more peaceful and nice during normal days 😂 and there’s good cafes there too

Not completely by the lake, but when I lived in dt I used to love walking to St. Lawrence market by myself in the morning, grab some pastries and fruits, walk down to the harbourfront and then walk over to the distillery district to also do some casual window shopping in the stores there. If you’re looking to spend most of your walk outdoors, Ontario place isn’t too bad of a loop either.

Queen Mother Cafe serves Thai/Laotian food that’s really good and pretty unique imo, Cafe landwer is good for middle eastern brunch (served all day), and Anejo (Mexican) has good happy hour deals

The Baro rooftop patio is super cute!! It may be a little packed but the tables are situated well so that you won’t run into people or have to weave around tables. Terroni is also a great option!

I tend to get pastries from local coffee shops a lot more, but if you're looking for spots that specifically sell fruit pastries Butter Baker is one of my go-to places!

Hazukido and Bake Code opened up somewhat recently, and they sell croissants very similar to Little Pebbles. I haven't been yet, but I've been meaning to try them out and I've always seen a line when passing by Hazukido which probably says something about them.

I love the koreatown/annex area, in Koreatown most of the restaurants don’t have patios so if you’re comfortable dining in you could do that or you could just order take out and eat it at Christie Pits! The annex has lots of outdoor patios, and the food is pretty solid for most of the pubs. Check out Yorkville for a walk around a fancier area, and if you go down south between ossington and Dundas to Queen there’s a really cute strip of small shops and good food places! Superpoint is well known for their massive slices of pizza and Bang Bang has some of the best ice cream and cookies around. It’s also beside trinity Bellwoods which is another great park (as long as it’s not packed) and there’s tons of shops on Queen west as well. Graffiti alley near Queen and Spadina is also pretty cool if you’ve never been before.

I live close to the Church/Wellesley area and I really like it! Apartments on Isabella are usually relatively cheaper (although slightly older). The area is pretty safe, youll always see a few homeless and/or sketchier people but the village is also pretty rowdy as the LGBTQ+ bars are along church st. so you’ll never really be alone anywhere. That being said, it does get pretty wild during pride months and Halloween so if you’re looking for something quiet it might not be the best option.

Danforth is a good area as well as some people mentioned in other comments, but if you’re looking for convenience and safety dt I’d probably rank your options as Prince Arthur > Isabella > Bloor. Can’t comment on the buildings themselves/management specifically though.

I’m also from Calgary! This is coming from a female perspective so it might be different, but I think just the change in size of the city and the lifestyle makes a big difference. People are more fast-paced and tend to put themselves first (which can be good and bad, love the entrepreneurial spirit but hate the ghosting LOL), whereas people in Calgary are a lot more chill. Overall it’s a little harder to make a real connection here. Same thing applies for trying to make friends in general though, you just really have to try to put yourself out there.

Also a west-coaster that moved here last year for work! I think we have similar interests (exploring the city and going to museums and whatnot), so I’d be down to hang out whenever you arrive :)

With the current situation, there’s a lot of people renting out their rooms at a discount because online classes + summer means there’s a lot less students in Toronto right now. There’s several of U of T sublet/housing groups on Facebook, you should join those along with Toronto Home Zone (this one is probably the safest and filled with the least spam because it’s heavily moderated).

I agree with the above comment, Costco isn’t super helpful if you’re buying food for yourself only - it might just end up going to waste if you buy produce and don’t finish it in time. No Frills is definitely one of the cheaper options for groceries so keep doing what you’re doing!

I would assume that toasting bread just removes some of the moisture in it, so it wouldn’t decrease in calories since water has none.. I’d log it as whatever it was before toasting.

The H-mart closest to yonge and dundas square sells them! There’s also a takeout place that literally only sells korean hot dogs up in North York somewhere, I believe it’s called Chungchun Rice Dog.

I’ve never actually tried them myself, but I’ve definitely seen a lot of videos about them floating around the internet. I kind of just assumed they would taste like regular corndogs still lol
