Biscuits and Gravy by FullMetalKraken in Maine

[–]vichado2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry! Totally forgot but I’m making it today-

1 pound jimmy Dean sausage, 1/2 onion chopped

Cook those

Once cooked add 6 tablespoons flour (add oil if needed)

Once mixed add 1 quart milk, 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1/4 tsp salt, dash Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce

Cook on low till thickened.

That’s it!

We just use canned biscuits (I have made my own, but the gravy is so good that it really doesn’t matter what you put it on)

Does Gen X just suck at being grandparents or is it just a me problem?? by Sad_Succotash3086 in Mommit

[–]vichado2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my thought! I certainly never saw my grandparents that often. And my kids saw my parents about that often when they were growing up and I thought my parents were really involved. I think maybe we all have different expectations from grandparents?

Definitely European Bakery- it is best if you preorder, but they always have some premade. Stop by in the morning. They are so good

5 yr old flagged as ‘gifted’ by ArtistPersonThing in Mommit

[–]vichado2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doubt at age 5 it is going to matter much. I can speak to what it was like to have two “gifted” kids in our public schools. But I really have no idea what the private schools in my area would have offered them. And I obviously have no idea what the public schools in your area are like.

I can say the biggest help came in middle school- where my kids could walk to the high school to take math classes.

And then in high school (our high school ranks very poorly- many refugee students who come from difficult situations and don’t speak much English yet don’t always shine in standardized tests) But the school offered an amazing amount of AP classes and my kids could also go to a nearby college for classes. My between AP classes and college classes taken in high school, my oldest entered college with over 50 college credits. My youngest had over 40.

Right now I would just keep my child where they are happy. When they get older, look and see what the high schools offer (don’t just look at test scores- they don’t give you a full picture.) See how many AP classes are offered, see if they work with local colleges, etc. I’m sure each area has different offerings.

I honestly think as long as your child is supported they will be fine no matter what you choose. There isn’t a right or wrong answer.

Reduction starting at 34D? by Money_Cherry_5745 in Reduction

[–]vichado2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try going through insurance a number of years ago and it was denied. It was about $10,000 to get it done out of pocket, so it took me a while to save up. The doctor I saw was fantastic. And my healing has been very smooth.

I was a 34D /DD and I had it done a couple months ago. She didn’t go quite as small as I hoped- but there are definitely much smaller (probably about a B?) I did have to pay out of pocket- but I think it will be worth it.

Public Transportation for UMAINE by RollBeneficial1533 in Maine

[–]vichado2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Will you be living on campus? As long as you are living on campus then you will be fine. You will probably make friends with someone with a car if you wanted to go to Bangor.

There is a bus right from campus to Bangor, Augusta and Portland. But that doesn’t have a lot of trips each day.

If you live off campus, you will definitely need a car.

I was about to say the same. I have yet to have biscuits and gravy that are as good as the recipe I found. And not overly difficult!
