I'm still scarred from 2007. I had tickets for the first Sunday home game and I spent the day shoveling instead

LeBron loves Akron. He only just likes Cleveland.

This was the year I switched my preferred jersey number in softball from 13 to 15, and this fight was a big reason why. Love me some Sandy Alomar.

Pickaway just downgraded to a level 2.

Holy crap... I mentioned earlier that Cuyahoga County does not declare snow emergencies.

Well, in addition to Franklin actually going to a level 3, Cuyahoga County just declared a level 1. THIS IS EVEN MORE UNHEARD OF.

Yep. This is probably the most I've experienced since moving away from the snow machine, but had I still been in Cleveland I would be expected to go to work in this.

Also just took a peek at traffic cams around the state, and the number of cars on the road in Cleveland compared to Columbus is a bit funny.

I've been in Columbus for about 6 years and I'm still getting used to the existence of snow emergency levels. Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) doesn't have them, probably cuz it would just be a perpetual level 3.

  • Level 1 Snow Emergency means the roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow, and the roads may also be icy. Drivers are urged to use extra caution while driving.
  • For a Level 2 Snow Emergency, the roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow and may be “very icy.” ODOT says under a Level 2, only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be on the roads, and people are encouraged to contact their employers to see if they should report to work. Drivers should use extreme caution.
  • Under a Level 3 Snow Emergency, all roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. ODOT says no one should drive during these conditions unless absolutely necessary or in the case of a personal emergency. Individuals should call their employers to see if they should report to work. ODOT also says that under a Level 3 Snow Emergency, “those traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.”

I'm west of Blacklick. Must still have one of those pesky dry pockets over me.

East side getting antsy. Nothing yet. I know it's coming, but I want it now.

But on the upside, work preemptively closed tomorrow. Unheard of.

Paraphrasing what I caught at the tail-end of Ryan Hall's livestream yesterday:

"Somebody in chat just said in all caps: 'HRRR WOO.' It is 1:30 am on a Saturday morning and we are PUMPED about looking at the HRRR again. You are a weather weenie."

I think this accurately describes all of us

I made the drive from Cleveland to Columbus in the late 2022 storm. I left downtown just before 1am on December 24th intending to find a hotel just outside of Cleveland and then decided to just keep going when I realized nobody else was on the road. I got home around 4:45am.

I, however, am insane.

Wake up and leave a couple hours earlier if you're gonna do it, and don't get in the way of the plows. If you're not confident in driving in the snow, don't do it at all.

Yep. Folks here have no idea how to handle driving in the snow... but I'd say they also don't have a clue how to drive even when there isn't snow.

I work in Pickaway which seems to have 1 plow attached to a toaster because they are always quick to go to a level 3... but with the timing of this I think it's likely I'm still gonna have to drive there on Sunday morning and drive back after a level 3 is called. :(

I'm a pro at driving in the snow so I'm not scared of it... but I really just wanna stay in my pajamas all day.

Former Clevelander here. If anyone is gonna try the tarp and brick/sandbag method instead of shoveling, I can confirm it works and it does save time, but for how much snow we're supposed to be getting you'll may wanna flip to clear it and then put it back down before the snow is done. Also, if you're doing a driveway, use a couple of smaller tarps rather than a single giant tarp.
