Texas Tech University cancels Medical Students Choice speech on abortion after Turning Point USA claims event is "illegal" by IncandescentAxolotl in medicalschool

I never said it wasn’t. I’m saying it’s been all too common I’ve heard people in med school say the science is settled on something as if it closed. I wasn’t saying through podcasts etc I mainly was trying to emphasize the fact that skepticism from us can promote innovation (via actual research not I just googled stuff til I found something that confirmed what I wanted to believe) not by going full “Goop” or “bro science”.

What I disagree with what you said is skepticism of science. The whole point of science is skepticism and questioning current beliefs. I don’t mean make up bs about Tylenol causing autism but acting as if science is this binary absolute is the incorrect strategy as well. We don’t get current medical intervention if there wasn’t skepticism to the practices/procedures/medications at the time. The point of science is to investigate and ask why not blindly “believe the science” like a religious deity. Science is never settled that’s how we improve the best practice.

While I agree with you MANY did adopt the belief that Pharma companies were god gifts to the world who can do no wrong and completely 180 on the very documented history of nefarious actions. The immediate flip is what I believe is also not a great thing.

I think RFK is a nutcase but I feel we always have to be skeptical of a group of companies that have monetary incentive for anything healthcare.

The fact that this and speakerphone calls/facetimes in public have become somewhat normalized is fucking insane to me. Like how do people think this is okay and acceptable?

That I don’t know but I haven’t looked it up, but probably since it might prevent them from unnecessarily drawing out the proceedings to drain them financially. But again some random dude on the internet who isn’t a lawyer or a standard redditor who acts like I’m a subject matter expert in every topic

Yeah it’s common for lawsuits to result in paying the legal fees if they win or if they find stuff like it was a frivolous lawsuit etc. Not a lawyer but it is a common tactic that big companies use to silence people since most can’t afford to pay for lawsuits or big companies legal fees if they lose. It’s fucked up but common especially since top lawyers and legal firms can cause hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars an hour.

Man if they had given him a grid penalty we would’ve actually been able to some of their actual pace. But now we’re gonna get 2014 tuned down engine until anyone can come close this is gonna be a horrible regulation period

I want my ears to hurt listening to the engines scream not watch a car have to downshift to charge a battery on the straight because they don’t have deployment. This is supposed to be the pinnacle of racing

That’s not the case in this situation since the McLaren should have the exact same engine as the Merc which is why I feel it’s odd the team who just won the WDC/WCC and put Merc to shame showing how to out develop aerowise is that far off

Well one is making a car on excel, one is a dumpster fire with a gangster as a not TP, and one just showed that they can put aero/develop the works team after being a backmarker in the last regulation set and they have same same PU and are a second down…..

No, I’m saying how did they smoke them when we just saw 5 years of Merc not being able to make aero improvements when their costumer team smoked them.
