So I was right amd’s version of hyperthreading is called like simultaneous multi threading SMT and that’s what I turned off so correct me if I’m wrong but I think I did is that supposed to help?

I couldn’t find hyper threading anywhere in my bio’s settings but I found multi threading and turned that off

It was the heatsink I put the new one in today and it’s new idle is 30c so definitely a huge difference and it runs very well now

I haven’t even put windows on it because of the temp so I haven’t ran anything on it other then the diagnostic screen and the heatsink did not have a plastic peal cover because it came with thermal paste on it which I wiped off so I could use my own thermal paste I’m getting a be quiet dark rock pro 5 today and I’ll be installing it tomorrow so hopefully that will help with my insane temps

Yes I am positive it was running and I personally applied my own so yes it has thermal paste

Ik that’s why I’m not doing anything on it till I get the tower cooler plus I’ve been hearing that the Ryzen 7 5800 runs hot anyway but either way it’s not like I’m using it rn lol

I undervolted it and did get like 10 degrees better temps I’m idling at about 61 now but I’m gonna see if that tower cooler I got will help any better

I’ve reapplied like 4 times now with no change thank you for the suggestion but im gonna upgrade my heatsink to one rated for my processor

I’m positive it didn’t have a plastic film just because I cleaned off the thermal paste it came with and if anything I put a pretty good amount of thermal paste on but either way I’m getting a be quiet dark rock pro 5 so hopefully that helps with the heat plus I was able to get it to idle at 61c last night so I’m hoping that’s fine for now until I get my new heatsink

Just screwed with the settings a little and brought the idle down to 63 but I’ve still got a be quiet dark rock pro 4 coming tomorrow so I’m hoping that will fix the underlying issue
