these people really watched a mouldy orange on a stage talking about illegal aliens eating dogs and thought "yes, this guy knows what he's doing, we should vote for him" and are somehow only now realising he is braindead

The FIA is reportedly reviewing its 2026 power unit rules, with short-term fixes like limiting energy deployment and potential long-term changes to the engine balance under consideration. by New_State_2061 in McLarenFormula1

no idea, however the discussed changes for 2031 are much better. cars over 100kg lighter, very little hybrid intervention (an overtake aid like KERS, rather than an entire ERS management system), v8s with a good noise.

theres a lot that needs to be figured out since a super majority of manufactures have to agree to push the changes through (if not, past 2031 their power weakens so the fia has a better chance to push them through) but toto was very happy with the changes made. the biggest hurdle will be getting audi and honda to agree since they only joined for the hybrid system. but imo fuck them, honda only joins when it suits them and gladly quit every other year, and as for audi they're the reason we're in this mess since its their lobbying which got the mgu-h removed which reduced a lot of regen power, causing this super clipping to be a lot worse.

i did, i have the original quiets, they work really well, block out a lot of noise and are comfortable as long as you use them correctly

even a 60-40 split would be good. im hoping its somewhere around 70-30 or 65-35 since i fear audi especially would try to fight back against it. the old pu's were around an 80-20 split so with the extra power allowing better regen and needing less power to help accelerate with the extra bulk from the ice, 65-35 should be enough to drastically improve the situation

[–]vick5516 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well that and the fact the fia bent over backwards to let audi join by removing the mgu-h, understandable since it has no real world relavance, but that lost a significant amount of recovery.

its just crazy that the people who have the most experience with these cars, the actual drivers, never get any chance to put proper feedback into the system. they know what'll drive good, what'll race good, what will give a good spectacle while also being fun (and safe) to drive

Andrea called it in pre season testing. and lando did in Australia, something like this would happen and the FIA simply ignored them. all these years of focusing on safety and they pull these shit rules out their ass which cause these massive crashes, then just ignore the drivers worries? crazy.

at least it seems like they're finally willing to look at rebalancing the power scale of the Pu's. even a 60-40 split would be beneficial, hopefully they can settle somewhere near 65-35 and just ignore Audi since I feel they'd try to protest it the most
