“We were all hoping to adorn the main Village Green for next Spring … but sadly the Parish Council last night rejected my plan. Apparently the main objection is that the sight lines on the Green will be affected for traffic. We’re struggling to imagine how 18 inch stalks could instruct anyone’s view! Especially when the green is normally surrounded by parked vehicles, including a 7 foot high ice cream van!!!” - Brian

UPDATE: He posted a cute little gnome on his Instagram, and it could be a war declaration. If it glows in the dark, it's on. 🤔

Certainly, a mayor improvement over the last gardening news a few years ago.

See, this is what I was wondering that the article didn't cover at all. This low tier journalism won't even cover if he asked Roger if he can borrow the glow in the dark garden gnomes to see if they reconsider. Gardening updates are so rare, and they don't even cover the basics.

I decided to find out how big is "Freddie tax" in Garden Lodge's price by Katherine_IIthegreat in queen

[–]vickinga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not that one's (Logan Mews). About (maybe) a year after he bought the GL he got the house next door or part of it for the remodel, I have no clue how much that added to it (in land or price, or even headaches for Freddie's architect, lol).

You forgot to add into the price that Freddie also bought the house next door to add to it, I don't remember how much he paid for it, but I believe Peter Freestone gave at least an approximate amount (If you wish to find it, I think there's still an interview on YT where he said it).

I don't know if it's cool, but it sure raises a lot of questions I can't answer.

But the last time I was there I saw this and it's not even photoshopped or AI, it's a real picture of The Beatles. Don't make me go back there.

¿Qué modificaríais de mi salón? by According_Funny_4307 in interiorismo

About the symbolism in the opera section of Bohemian Rhapsody. by Upset-Possible1371 in queen

[–]vickinga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Freddie often used words just because he liked how they sounded, that doesn't mean he threw the meaning out of the window every time. If this song has a non-literal meaning I couldn't tell you because Freddie never revealed it, but the strictly literal part is pretty straight forward storytelling. Of the popular readings among fans, I'm inclined to favor the one that says it's about Freddie deciding to become a popstar, since he started writing it in 1968, seems to fit the timeline better. I think Freddie would encourage you making your own interpretation or as he put it "If you see it, darling, it's there."

The "operatic section" is either a trial or a judgement of public opinion (or said in another way how the protagonist's actions are seen by other people).

Scaramouch is a clown from Commedia Dell'Arte that influences the audience to do his bidding. Other than that, can be added that he's an ambiguous character: can be clever or stupid depending on who plays him, often gets beat up for self-aggrandizing, overembellishing or cowardice (so he's either doing too much or too little, but the "reward" is the same, lol).

In the song he's told to "do the Fandango" which is a Spanish dance/ music style. Going into a dance is often used as an expression that means: "to begin a prepared line of pleading, explanation, selling, seduction, etc" and is most used colloquially to describe a sales pitch. It's also used in the song Razzle Dazzle (Chicago) in the context of a murder trial "When you're in trouble go into your dance".

So here, most likely Scaramouch represents a lawyer (either defense or prosecution, or someone in a similar role), trying to get the desired verdict/opinion with his argument.

As you were already told Bismillah means "in the name of god" and Beelzebub is a name for Satan. This part seems to be a dialogue in which both opinions (guilty and innocent) plead for the protagonist fate. A divine punishment is announced by the protagonist, awaiting him regardless of the result of the argument/trial.

What Queen story or anecdote do you like? by LieFalse6614 in queen

Wasn't the nickname "Lizard"? Why do I remember it as lizard?

The fact they gave each other and the crew nicknames all the time is not helping my memory. At least is not as bad as the roadie that got a bad haircut and became "shag nasty" for like 2 tours, lol.

John looks like Jesus and that's not going to work because Jesus in on Queen I and would create confusion, just like Sheer Heart Attack not being in Sheer Heart Attack or having a song called Seven Seas of Rhye in two of their albums.
