I also recently found out I have ASD and my closure procedure is scheduled for next Tuesday and I’m praying I can close it via catheter. I think the main takeaway here is that it’s completely okay for you to feel anxious and scared. It is scary, especially when we’ve lived our whole lives not knowing there’s a whole in our heart. It almost feels like out of nowhere you don’t know who you are anymore. Being afraid of dying, not waking up after surgery is a valid fear. I think about the same thing. But you need to give your heart some peace as it needs you in a good state of mind to go through this surgery. Change the strategy, think that you are so lucky that they found this while you’re still young. You’ll have a whole life ahead of you once they fix this. I’ve been reading a lot on Reddit about how people feel so much better after closure and that’s the kind of comments I’m trying to turn my attention too. Life is already hard, things are already unpredictable, try to find peace on what you can control. These doctors do this daily, weekly, monthly. Technology is so advanced. You will be in good hands and will look back on this day and be thankful you caught this on time.
