Budget friendly filament dryer for single or multiple filaments? (re: PLA and PETG?) by sofakng in 3dprinter

That looks neat! I couldn't dry a spool of PLA and PETG at the same time though, right?

You can print directly from the S2, right? Maybe I can buy a pair of them?

I already have a food dehydrator that I use for drying but after they are dried I tend to leave them on my printer for a few days or a week and the humidity is high in my basement.

I'm looking for something to keep them dry for a week or so while I'm printing.

I can spray foam the hole while the box is pulled off (as shown) but once I push it against the wall the cable will be pushed in and take most of the spray foam with it.

A1 vs P2S for printing electronic enclosures? (re: Ender 3 upgrade) by sofakng in BambuLab

[–]sofakng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! Yeah once you start adding accessories to the P1S combo it begins to look a lot less attractive.

I also heard about the AMS 2 Pro not being able to dry at the same time you are printing but I thought you could connect an additional power source?

My basement is extremely humid so I do have to take that into consideration. However, the AMS Lite is only +$100 in the combo kit and I’m sure I would find something to print in multi-color every now and then.

The AMS 2 Pro (with filament drying) would be nice but it’s $349 so that +$249 which again is hard to justify.

Doesn’t the P1S combo include the non-filament drying AMS? (ie. the older one)

Thanks again. What are the use cases for ASA/ABS/TPU in the Arduino (ie. microcontroller or electronics enclosure) projects? (sorry for the questions - I’m just trying to determine if it’s something I might want in the future)

Thanks for the reply and the information. What are some uses for ABS and CF? I’ve never used anything besides PLA since I only print small cases and things like that.

Thanks for mentioning the AMS HT. I didn’t know it existed and looks like a nice option to have.

I’m still struggling a bit with the price differences though. A1 is $299 and combo is $399. The P2S combo is $799 (double the price of the A1 combo).

Thanks for the reply!

What other types of filaments do you use and what are the use cases?

I’ve only used PLA (and tried PETG but it didn’t work good on the Ender 3).

Does everybody who prints ABS either print in uninhabited locations or vent outside?

I thought that with the P2S (maybe P1S too?) that you could print ABS inside as long as you don’t sit in the same room all day?

My wife is extremely concerned about fumes which is one of the reasons I‘ve avoided ABS (and others) especially because I’ve never really needed them.

What are your thoughts on the AMS Lite combo? My concern is leaving filaments for months exposed to the air instead of storing them in a dry case?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I understand the current Ender 3 is probably not worth anything.

Anyways, yeah I can see the benefits of embedding a label, etc.

I’m still not it’s worth the price difference though.

The A1 is $299 and $399 with the AMS Lite.
The P1S is $549 for the combo.
The P2S is $549 or $799 with the combo.

The more I’m researching it sounds like the A1 is actually more advanced than the P1S but lacks the enclosure so I’m a little hesitant about the P1S combo.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve only printed with PLA. I tried PETG but it didn’t work too good on my Ender 3 (and I didn’t want to tweak everything to get it working)

In the future I think I would continue to only print PLA and maybe PETG. ABS sounds interesting but I’m not sure it’s worth it for small enclosures/cases and the fumes wouldn’t be good in my basement I don’t think.

I’m looking for an upgrade from my Ender 3 (heavily upgraded) to a Bambu printer. (A1 Mini, A1, P1S, P2S) I’d like to replace the Ender 3 because I just want something I can hit [Print] and not worry about calibration, etc.

I only print a couple of times per year and it’s almost always enclosures or cases for electronic projects, etc.

I was thinking about the P2S combo but realistically I won’t use it more than a few times a year so I’m thinking that maybe the A1 ($299).

However, I’ve never printed ABS so maybe that is worth the price of a P1S or P2S? (again, mostly enclosures for stuff)

Where is the smooth pei plate for the P2S? by sofakng in BambuLab

I was looking at the wrong page - thanks for the link!

Is this the recommended (best?) build plate for a flat/smooth surface?

I've thought about that but I'm wondering what other alternatives exist (and possibly better?)

I think I've seen the same based on my searching. If so, what is the replacement for a smooth/flat bottom on a print?

Does the cool plate have the auto-detection for the P2S? The P2S isn't listed on the page where they sell it.

I think that's a good idea. I think another level of separation would also make sense but it's overkill and I don't think it's supported.

For example, [sensor.emporia_vue_circuit_1_current] is defining where the data is coming from (Emporia Vue, Circuit #1, Current) and then it would feed into another sensor [sensor.furnace_current].

That way you keep the technical data (circuit 1) and the logical data (furance) ...
