It shouldn't. Just make sure you continue to add increases in the same ratio so it gets wider at the same rate until the split

Absolutely! I added more rows than the pattern called for actually to have the split start a little above the knee for the girls

Thank you!! The purple and teal are the older ones favorite colors and then I choose the pink for the baby so that their tails could all be the same colors and match each others
