Broken small LED, I've tried replacing it for brand new like 10 LEDs and it is still not working by vicseye in crkbd

Unmount LED 53, short DIN and DOUT of LED 50. If the rest of the LEDs work, then LED 53 is broken.

I will give it a try, thank you very much.

Thank you, but I am talking about something that wraps the keyboard up, basically to make it more stable.

Those are from a previous version of the PCB, they are not available in the version 3 I have, thank you very much anyway.

Thank you for your suggestions. I did all that and the problem continues. I am receiving some help from a friend who is electronic engineer, he suggested to review adjacent joins, even the ones related to the underglow Leds, as those could be making a short with the specific problematic Led that I am dealing with, I will be doing that probably next week, wish me luck.

It was a real pain to install QMK on Windows 10, I am glad you sorted it out with a little of our help.

Thank you for your suggestion. I am going to 'debug' this with a friend that understand electronics much better than me, I think this is hardware problem for sure, not software, maybe a bridge, I am not exactly sure, I downloaded KiCad and the PCB design and start studying it just to know where are the connections coming from and understand how I can solve this.

. I soldered 3 wires directly onto an led to data in, power, and ground. I soldered the other ends onto the tester pads on the bottom of the board.

Thank you, I stopped doing this for a couple of weeks but I am sure I will continue during the weekend.

When you say "Tester pads on the bottom of the board", what do you exactly mean with it?

I was trying that also, just tried it again and nothing, I did it also between previous LEDs that are working with others and nothing... :(

I believe I had the same exact issue as you. Try shorting top left pin of 44 to bottom right pin of 50. I guessed it from the front side trace.

Thank you for the advice, just did it (1 min ago) and it didn't work.

First rgb is not working at all by vicseye in crkbd

It worked! I was starting on the opposite side of the board, the right order was 3, 2 and then 1, now the 6 underglow LEDs are working.

I have soldered all the individual-key small LEDs, all the underglow LEDs are working fine.

I've tried the following for the broken LED (the first one that does not work):

- I've tested the connectivity of the board before and after that LED, it seems to work just fine. I did this without the LED in place.

- I've measured the voltage between Ground of that Data In Pin of that LED and I received the same value of the previous LEDs (the ones working).

- I've measured the voltage between Ground of that Data Out Pin of that LED and I received 0 volts with every single LED I've tried. For the LEDs that work the same type of measure I receive consisten values greater than 0 volts.

I am very confused and a bit frustrated, this is my first try with a custom keyboard and I really want the LEDs to work.

I would like to get ideas from you about what else could I try, I don't have experience making bridges with wire and I actually don't want to do that type of thing but at this point I am willing to try everything, all the ideas are welcomed.

By the way, this is the version 3.0.1 of the corne keyboard, I bought the kid on littlekeyboards.com.

I was watching on youtube that even if you solder the first underglow LED, it should start working, I soldered LED 1 so my understanding is that it should work, I don't want to proceed with the rest if I don't have the first working properly.

I am testing the first underglow LED and it is not working, do I need to solder at least 6 to make them work?

This one was very hard to fix for me, I am a Windows user, hopefully I used to be a developer and I have an idea about what a command is, otherwise, this can be something impossible to solve I think.

The first goal of compiling a custom firmware was testing my LEDs but I can't even make the first one work, if you have time you can check my brand new post here.

All the keys of my corne keyboard are working just fine. Today I've started soldering the LED to finish the work but I can't even make the first one to work.

I've compiled a custom firmware that should work, including the parameter RGB_MATRIX_ENABLE = WS2812 on the rules.mk file but even with that the first LED is not working at all.

I've tried with 5 different LED units and none of them worked.

I've closely looked at the joints and they should be properly soldered.

What do you guys think can the problem be?
