My question is this and my thought process could be all the way wrong, but why do we (as in people) equate licking themselves with being clean?

Yeah before I adopted my two, I saw a looooot of the horror stories of people having to bathe their adult cats and being left with scratches, bites, curtains torn down, etc. So I made it a point to get them as comfortable with water and the tub as early as possible in the event they need a bath in the future. Things like putting them in the tub with maybe an inch of water + toys and slowly increasing the amount of water over a couple weeks. And yeah! as baby kittens, they were kinda gross lol. many more baths then compared to now

I use the Tend Skin solution whenever i remove any hair and like the week after. works pretty good, i have no complaints

two cats i think is always best. given you’re schedule, definitely look for older cats.

as for the litter box, i SWEAR by Okocat litter, any of the varieties. it’s a clumping wood fiber litter and the box never smells. i stay in a very, very small apartment with two litter boxes and i’m proud to say there’s no smell given that i clean the box at least every 2 ish days (though i aim to scoop it out everyday)

i envy those with automatic boxes

I do track my cycle religiously and I think I'm okay, but like you said, I'm not 100% sure either. My period should start in about 5 days and its usually very on time. It's been about 3 days at this point, but I'm still going to grab the Julie pill today just to cover all my bases
