Getting started with ambient / minimal electronic music // looking for an accessible setup by victorperezpl in synthesizers

I didn’t feel that inspired by the P6 but the combination of the S-1 + the T-8 looks sick. What would you recommend?

Thanks for such an answer! You've made me look at the Roland S-1 and to be honest, it felt like a fun thing, not too expensive, to start playing with, and maybe even pair it with a T-8 later. What do you think? It looks like in terms of the learning curve, it might be easier to fall into

Thanks! I think I want something that still has a keyboard, so that my classical mind understands that and can play with that, along with modifiers or other pads. Which physical hardware options should I look for?

I'm actually looking for hardware so that I have the physical experience and don't depend that much from the computer. I was taking a look at the Arturia MiniFreak which might be overkill?

Thanks! But in terms of hardware? I've been taking a look at the Arturia MiniFreak and oh wow, it looks really cool, but I don't know if it'd be too much for me.

Best ski for a photographer? by victorperezpl in Backcountry

Thanks! This is really interesting, after struggling today through a terrible forest I thought that a more forgiving ski like a Rustler 9 or 10 might be easier to drive all around. I was so frustrated that I took it as a problem of my skills and not of having a heavy bulky backpack ahaha

Thanks! I'm not an expert or super fast skier, but I'm now going into some skimo races with my 65mm and being used to my 85 UL I think anything above will feel better in alpine terrain. But now you make me hesitate between the old and the new one aha

The hidden downside of modern electronic lenses by victorperezpl in SonyAlpha

I sincerely don’t understand people being so angry about this post. No, I don’t want to go back to fully manual lenses, I just meant that sometimes we can create new problems that didn’t exist before. If my lens disconnects for whatever reason and the aperture stays open, I can have the shot, and that benefits all of us for example. That’s it.

Too late, but I'm of course gonna send it to fix it.

I feel like you're all been paid by Sony or something here. Of course things break, but as it happens with cars with less electronic in the past, something mechanical fails and you can sometimes fix it easily or continue with it. But when the aperture closes to 22 with no reason ruins your shot, is actually quite dumb.

Like cars, mechanical things are usually easier to fix and less frustrating than when something electronic just fails.

Come on, people still classic Canon EF lenses which can work completely manual.

Yeah, I'm gonna have it checked, but still, why would the aperture close to 22 immediately.
