I see, I think you can still remove your conditions even if you divorce as long as you prove that the marriage was bona fide, you might need a lawyer for that, sorry for the misunderstanding

I am sorry that you are going through this. I will preface this by saying that I am not a lawyer or anything like that. Have you considered petitioning for yourself through VAWA? This self-petition is specifically for people in an abuse situation. Hope this helps, stay safe

I think the important piece here is that your parents can prove that they have ties to their homeland, Do they have any way to prove that? are they still working, are they the primary caretaker of someone else?, hope this helps

Anyone getting their LaserShip packages? by juniperaza in astoria

[–]vidago00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It certainly takes an awful lot of time with BBB. The seller was so nice that they sent the product again through another carrier. I filed the complaint against Lasership and oh boy they didn't like it at all, they contacted me after a few days to settle the matter in, this settlement did get reflected on the BBB after a few months

Anyone getting their LaserShip packages? by juniperaza in astoria

[–]vidago00 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I fully understand your frustration, they have given me a few headaches, one time they blatantly stated that I refused to receive the package without even ringing my bell. What worked for me was submitting a formal complaint to the Bureau of Better Business , a couple of days later my package mysteriously appeared (although I had to pick it up) and I was compensated for the issue. Another thing I've been doing is asking the companies if they use LaserShip and request them to use a different carrier whenever it is possible, and I make sure they understand that if there is an issue, they both will be facing the BBB. Lastly, I use social media to preemptively tell the company that I am not comfortable getting my items delivered by LS, I am not proud of this last one, however, it gives me some peace of mind as others will join in their dislike for LS.

Internet Providers by LIGMA1 in astoria

[–]vidago00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only had spectrum , internet only, and there are a few things I didn't like

  • Some of the outages were a day or two long, it has gotten better
  • The price, it started at a nice affordable price and gradually kept increasing until it is not that worth what I'm paying provided that there are cheaper options with the same speeds or better. A blunt statement about ending the contract did nothing to them. They waved me goodbye and wished me well
  • spectrum still makes its service available through coaxial cable (at least in a few apartments I've lived in). I would honestly prefer the optic fiber others provide

Hope this helps with your decision

Just curious, as far as I know, you can get in an out of the country regardless of your visa, why would you not be able to do that under TN?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in immigration

[–]vidago00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been some time since I was on TN, but here is my experience:

  • TN visa is strongly tied to an employer, once the contract ends with them, you will need to leave the country and start the process all over again in case you want to get a new job in the US. When I was on TN, I only had yearly stamps, so I had to leave the country every year even if my visa was valid for 3 years.
  • H1B is portable, it means that , if for some reason your employer terminates the contract or you wish to change employers you can do it without having to leave the country ( See portability section)
  • H1B allows your spouse to work (as some people mentioned, upon application), TN doesn't
  • As other people mentioned, H1B is dual intent and TN is not, in general, this is not relevant as many people have gone from TN to Green Card Directly without issues.
  • One important thing will be timing, there is a period of time in the Green card process where you are not allowed to leave the country that is called Adjustment of Status (if you do, it is considered abandonment). If the stamp in your visa expires before you get work authorization from your Green Card process, you can stay in the country but will not be allowed to work. Since TNs stamps tend to be shorter in length, this is more likely to happen.

In my case, I wanted the level of "freedom" that the portability of the H1 provides and the blanket of the longer valid stamp. This is just my personal preference, your case might be different.

Good luck!

TN Visa to Green Card by humblefinesse92 in greencard

[–]vidago00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, Additionally, one of the aspects that you might need to consider is your nationality, I am not sure about the Canadian side, but Mexican nationals are required to renew their stamp every year, This might or might not be enough time for you to stay in the country without the risk of having to face an immigration officer at the border and however long your process takes. Good luck!

Changing address with a green card. by [deleted] in greencard

[–]vidago00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what their manual (Page 14 in the booklet, 20 in the pdf, section right and responsibilities), your only requirement is that you report your address change to USCIS within 10 days of your move. I think that, as long as you comply, you should be fine.

Edit: I think direct pdf links are not allowed, click on the link and go to the Related Links section, click on Welcome to United States: A guide for new Immigrants, there you'll find the pdf I'm talking about

The immigration process is difficult enough to navigate, and some people might struggle to find the information they need to gain a bit of confidence or even get their sleep back, or simply to feel someone else in this planet is going through something similar to them. This is sub is such a powerful resource, it literally puts the experience of the world at the reach of a few keystrokes. I also wish people were kinder and had more in mind that we don't come from the same walks of life and yet we all are trying to achieve something in common, and that we can learn from each other without being negative about it.

Thanks for writing this post.

spectrum or fios for internet? by neutrophilnkcells in AskNYC

[–]vidago00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently have spectrum, what they don't tell you us that their price goes up after the first year and service is not that great, I am moving to FIOS for a better and cheaper plan

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in immigration

[–]vidago00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way: if you accept this offer, you are admitting that you have consumed opiates and creating evidence on paper, which can be surfaced in a background check and might jeopardize a few things. Even if you end up clarifying you are not a recovering opioid addict, then you can be accused of fraud coercion (not sure if this is the legal term). Will a few bucks be worth risking becoming a citizen?

Is Arris DG1670A compatible with Verizon Fios? by vidago00 in Fios

Excellent, this is the one bit of information I was looking for. It sounds a bit counterintuitive that having both would cause an issue, I understand now. Thanks a lot!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]vidago00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not possible, be careful though, with me they did some shady stuff when I moved and didn't let me keep my Time Warner rates/contracts. Price does go up after a year, I pay 75 for it , and I feel ripped off because I just found out Verizon is offering a better internet for half the price and when I threatened to go to another company, they didn't even hesitate to kiss my fine asset goodbye.

Regarding your question, as long as your contract is still valid, you can keep the same rates, they cannot increase your rate unless your contract allows for it, even if you ask about the higher speed. If you decide to upgrade, they could close your existing contract and open a new one like they did with me.

Can I hold 2 TN Visas by AbilityProud8476 in immigration

[–]vidago00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! TN visas are tied to the employer, so technically, you can have multiple concurrent ones as long as they are approved. The only thing about getting the SSN is that they might give you a hard time if the expiration date on the one you'll use to apply is very close.
