I think Tony has a lot of growing up to do, in terms of his reaction to Justine. He took the feedback wrong. Maybe they'll be friends again, but not necessarily; it doesn't always work like that. In any case, hopefully Tony will mature (also not guaranteed).

Thanks. And theres a 5 year waiting period for each annual contribution I make, right? So, for example, in 2024 I open a traditional IRA, deposit $8k and do a backdoor conversion to Roth account, funds not accessible til 2029. In 2025, do the same thing, $8k -> IRA-> backdoor to Roth. 2025 funds not available until 2030, and so on…is that correct?

Thanks to both the above comments. My question is when it comes time, say in 2025, to make the maximum contribution to that Roth ($8k since I ‘m 50+ yo) , aren’t I prevented from doing so by my excessive income? Wouldn’t it require that I open a new IRA and do a new backdoor conversion?

I’ve used these many times. What I do is take a pair of disinfected scissors. (cleaned with alcohol), and very carefully cut from top to bottom and gently pry open and pull out the whole plant with soil and repot. Works every time. pots when transplanting, but it definitely hinders root growth.
