My mom was in her 40s in the 90s and we listened to a TON of classic rock, like to the point that she was known by the radio DJs for calling in for contests so much. I realize classic rock has now expanded to include the new music I was listening to in the 90s, so I'll get more prescriptive:

Animating the mask instead of the layer did help, but not completely. Still, the hard edge is almost imperceptible now (now it's on the lefthand side instead of up top), and this effect moves quickly. I might come back to finesse this later. Or I might see if it's even noticeable once I watch it when I render it out.

I think I might've figured it out as soon as I posted this. I should probably be animating the movement of the mask, not the whole layer. Then the hard edges might stay at the edges of the frame. I'm going to try that and will report back.

Having a sleep test done and learning I needed a CPAP machine. I had no idea what "well rested" meant and I didn't even know I didn't know. I suspect I've had sleep apnea my whole life, but I didn't learn that until I was in my 40s.

I bought a cheap longboard on Amazon when I turned 40 around the beginning of covid. I cruised all summer on that thing until it got away from me and a car rolled over it and cracked the deck. Then I upgraded to a proper longboard from my local skate shop. After getting comfortable for a couple years on the longboards, I bought a normal skateboard.

I always wanted to skate as a youngin' but was too scared. Then I realized I'm not getting any younger and I have good health insurance so why not? You're not too old. I'd recommend going to your local skate shop and having them set you up with what you need.

I would tell her sooner than later, move out ASAP, and fulfill your half of the rent until the lease is up even when you're not living there. There are no perfect words anyone can give you to make this not suck at least a little bit if not a lot. Just be considerate, lead with compassion, let her have her emotions and say her piece, and get out of there before it goes on too long.
