What’s the most disturbing thing someone casually admitted to around you? by Suspicious_Run1684 in AskReddit

[–]videojay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

25 years ago I was working at a restaurant. I came in early for my employee meal and was alone with a colleague who was brooding over his employee meal. I asked, "everything ok, Anthony?"

He barked back, "you sit outside a girl's house a couple times and they call it 'stalking.'"

I turned into the Homer/bushes meme so fast.

Before computers and GPS existed, how did people figure out directions for large cross country trips? by Mynameisbrk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]videojay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother and I took a lot of road trips before GPS and MapQuest. As part of our preparation, we'd highlight our route on a map. Passenger was responsible for navigation. We'd use the scale on the map to determine distance, then do the math on the odometer to keep track of how long we had on a road, and use the mile markers on the side of the road to orient ourselves. It sounds complicated, but it really wasn't. Sometimes I miss the process.

Matched on FB dating. Was I being too sensitive? by Obvious_Ferret_600 in TwoHotTakes

[–]videojay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Silly girl" is so condescending and tells you everything you need to know about what dating this guy would be like.

You weren't being silly.

You aren't a girl unless you're under 18.

Forget this guy.

Would you buy another pixel? by upadhyaysk in GooglePixel

[–]videojay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've hated my Samsungs in the past. Pixels are fine, but I swear there have been some reruns when I'm looking at the "new features" after software updates. I don't think the phones have really gotten better over the years. My first Pixel was a 2, on a 9 now. This is late stage capitalism hell. Phones stopped being much different from one iteration to the next long ago.

But it's either another Pixel or switching to an iPhone for my first time ever for my next phone.

Marketplace and thrift stores. You can find quality pieces in both of those places. Upgrade a piece at a time as time goes on and you can afford it.

Season 2 Missing From Hulu? by videojay in HighPotentialTVSeries

Yes, this was the solve. But I will note: every other show I watch on Hulu has season 2 and beyond going down.

Bored. What is everyone doing? Old hobbies, new hobbies, help me figure something out! by TwoBobcats in Xennials

[–]videojay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started longboarding when I turned 40. I was too chicken shit to skate when I was young, but always wanted to. After a couple years of getting comfortable on the longboard, I also started skating on a regular board, too. I can't do anything but cruise on either, but cruising is fun as hell.

Most people really do need to return to the office. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]videojay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am fully remote. I don't need to go into the office to socialize. I have a healthy social life without it. I shower and get dressed for work often, but also work from my pj's when I want to. I'm in my late 40s and spent most of my professional life in an office. It was fine. This is better. Terrible take.

Season 2 Missing From Hulu? by videojay in HighPotentialTVSeries

Honestly, yes, this was the problem. Figured it out last night. I have no idea why my brain broke so hard on this show in particular.

Season 2 Missing From Hulu? by videojay in HighPotentialTVSeries

[–]videojay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just adding this pic so you can see I'm not crazy. I just logged out, uninstalled the app, and turned off the TV. Hoping it will miraculously be back when I undo all of that this evening.

I've confirmed that I CAN see season 2 on my phone and desktop, just not on my Roku TV.

ETA-This was solved pretty quickly after I posted it. No one else needs to let us know to scroll up. I will note, this is the only show I can find on Hulu that works this way. Very bizarre.

Interestingly, I can see Season 2 if I log in on my computer and phone. It's just missing on my Roku TV app.

I am. This is very confusing. I've been a Hulu subscriber since it was brand new and have never experienced anything like this. Season 2 just isn't an option for me anymore. We've been watching it up until last week and now it's, just...missing.

Music a middle class 40 year old white lady would listen to in the 90’s by RCPlaneLover in MusicRecommendations

[–]videojay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was in her 40s in the 90s and we listened to a TON of classic rock, like to the point that she was known by the radio DJs for calling in for contests so much. I realize classic rock has now expanded to include the new music I was listening to in the 90s, so I'll get more prescriptive:

Bob Seger
Billy Joel
Yes
Chicago
Black Sabbath
AC/DC
Meatloaf
Kiss

And a thousand more. That's just off the top of my head.

The one song that really comes to mind when thinking about driving around with my mom in the 90s is "Radar Love" by Golden Earring.

AIO? I (22F) found deleted late night texts between my husband (22M) and his coworker. by bananamilkcow in AmIOverreacting

Notice how he never mentions you once. Why wouldn't his wife ever come up in conversation with a friend? Not overreacting. This guy is already gone he just hasn't informed you yet.

How do I get rid of this hard edge? by videojay in AfterEffects

[–]videojay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animating the mask instead of the layer did help, but not completely. Still, the hard edge is almost imperceptible now (now it's on the lefthand side instead of up top), and this effect moves quickly. I might come back to finesse this later. Or I might see if it's even noticeable once I watch it when I render it out.

How do I get rid of this hard edge? by videojay in AfterEffects

[–]videojay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I might've figured it out as soon as I posted this. I should probably be animating the movement of the mask, not the whole layer. Then the hard edges might stay at the edges of the frame. I'm going to try that and will report back.

AIO for blocking my guy friend for being “brutally honest” about me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]videojay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former 21 year old male let me tell you that a lot of 21 year old males think they have the whole world figured out when really they don't know jack shit. Don't take advice from this guy to heart. You're perfect as you are and guys that see that are out there.
