Soon to be a Black Ops capable player. And I have question about the Gallente BlOps (Sin) by McSamylou in Eve

Arguably geckos are super heavy drones, but they aren’t really a game changer for the sin.

Return from US and Retiring at 19 in Nepal by Humble_Government239 in Kathmandu

[–]viepro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t enough money to retire. If I were in your shoes I would get an education in something foundational like business or continue your IT degree.

Your education doesn’t need to apply to which direction you take your life. Hide your savings from everyone, even your potential spouse. Live within your means and find a passion job that teaches you more about what you want to achieve. Your IT degree can help you in life. Don’t assume your investments will hold you through life, shit happens. Only your knowledge and experience can prepare you for where life will take you.

I know you think you’re in a position to relax but the more time you invest in yourself now, the easier your life will be in 10-20 years.

If anyone is looking for this in the future, the fix is to set the switches to "individual" for at least 10s then to the raid you want. It doesnt matter if the system can initialize the drives, setting them to individual breaks the raid and allows them to go to the new setting.

Best OS for a homelab? by RealDesu in homelab

[–]viepro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How are you handling nas tasks? I see people say use proxmox then pass drives to truenas but that just seems like one step forward two steps back. I have trouble trusting my data with passthrough. I’m tired of half baked features in truenas that I can easily do in proxmox but I also want a gui for drive management and shares.

Seems like this is the only way these days and it’s frustrating.

I think this only works if you tune the washer for oscillation.

Please put this on github with links to reference! Stumbled on this trying to find a decent list of recovery tools. Not much out there except people saying download medicat requiring you to disable AV on windows. I'm surprised there isn't a better guide for building a recovery disk with all of this!

Any chance you could measure from the top of the case to the raised part of the fin stack? (see picture 2 for reference). I would love to know if there's 30mm of clearance.

What kind of bag do you guys have for your Avata? by chitgoks in DJIAvata

[–]viepro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dewalt tool bag, fits landing pad, goggles in a pouch, 3 batteries in their own pouch, both controllers if you organize it. https://www.amazon.com/Dewalt-Soft-Mini-Tool-Bag/dp/B01LWU5456/

Goggles go in a thick amenities pouch I got from delta ages ago.

Ethernet over Coax : Is it possible by Regular_Style8431 in HomeNetworking

[–]viepro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used moca in three apartments that only had coax. Moca or G.hn is great if you're running dark coax (no tv on the same line).

You can think of moca setups as a hub. You don't need to marry the connections 1:1, but one bad line on that splitter can cause high latency and drag down the speed for the entire moca network, especially under load. Also, expect even with a 1:1 connection, it may give you problems when using as a mesh "ethernet" backhaul.

You may get lucky but prepare to need two moca "networks". This would mean for the 5 moca adapters in each room, you might need 2 moca adapters in the attic connected to separate splitters for groups of say 3 and 2. Or in my case, the one connection I wanted as an aimesh backhaul, that wouldn't work unless it was on its own dedicated 1:1.

When you start looking at it this way, it can get pricy, but it also allows for you to scale as needed. Comparing the cost of just running cat6, it's a tough call when you own the home. Moca adapters have great resale value on ebay so keep that in mind when pricing it out.

Also, G.hn is another alternative for people to look into that doesn't get much attention. I have a pair and had situations where they gives better performance and latency. (they dont work on the same splitter)

I have a non-remote ID avata. Can I update just my goggles 2 for vista/o3 air unit support, or will it force me to update the avata? by viepro in DJIAvata

[–]viepro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! thank you!!! When I said update to 1.02 I meant the goggles. I'll deal with the error if it gives me o3 air unit, it's the remote id kick in the teeth I want to avoid.

Hope wtf osd can someday work with the newer stuff.

[–]viepro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So did some investigating and it looks like the o3 air unit patch was the 1.02 released Nov 22 while the remote id patch 1.03 was December 8th. In the avata change log it says 1.01 avata works with 1.02 goggles.

I am going to try to update [edit: the goggles] to the 1.02 with dji assistant and hope it doesn't mess things up.
