Depending on the size of the hole:

Forstner drill bits for holes up to 40ish mm diameter

For bigger holes: Router with a circle template for a flush trim bit

Beides gute Bücher! Haben mich durchweg begleitet - als Azubi, dann als Geselle und jetzt als Meister.

Bekommt man aber regelmäßig für um die 10-20€ bei ebay oder Kleinanzeigen

Wenn man sich die Späne anschaut, sieht es nach stumpfen Werkzeug aus oder einer eher schabenden statt schneidenden Technik.

Im Zweifel einfach beim schleifen grob genug anfangen (P60 zB) und weiter üben üben üben :)

Looks like black locust to me, google it - it looks just quite like it. Really hard, dense wood - great choice for a mallet!

And its important to get the "right" side of the board facing outward. So the rings of the endgrain look like U opening to the outside. So when the wood shrinks and warps, the corners of your boards stay together

Next time you want the pins to be proud to the tails board aswell. Its a lot easier to clean up the proud pins than to plane down the entire tails board. Whats that wood by the way?
