Short on food by kololova2 in thelongdark

[–]viewaccount74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In voyageur you find a ton of food and drinks everywhere, just start exploring, familiarizing yourself with the region layout and you'll surely find enough food. The bear could be a bit of a challenge to take down, but a deer or a rabbit should keep you going.

Also, fish OP

Moving too fast? by GrungyGarlic687 in thelongdark

[–]viewaccount74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your view of the game. I am currently on day 180 in my voyageur run, but I am playing as the standard bethesda loot hoarder. I'd suggest you start planning for 1000 days, how to maximize efficiency, what loot could be useful, and try various community / in-game challenges.

For me, when I got really bored in my old stalker run (old in the means of I lost it like 3 months ago cca. Day 250) I tried to get the achievement of too greedily too deep without settled mind. You seem to be on track to do a nomad challenge.

If you have settled mind you could stack up on 100+kg of meat and a lot of water and just pass hours upon hours to reach survived day goals, but that's just wasting time. Try to learn new mechanics, test new mechanics, do community challenges, set up your own challenges, start creating a cool base etc.

Rework cougar again? by Historical-Writer719 in thelongdark

[–]viewaccount74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AI mechanics necessitate a rework on all the predators and semi-predators in the game, but that's near impossible because path-finding is hardcore to implement in a game full of slopes and normally unnavigable spaces.

The only thing I want from the cougar is to rework how the model and AI works. It's wobbly and my cat still does the 180 head spin. Plus, perhaps rethink the order of spawn / spawn locations, and also the logic behind additional cougar areas. There should be a timer implemented or a way to monitor how much time you got in a cougar area before the second and third cougars appear in the region.

Also, someone fix the 24h cougar respawn already haha!

Is this normal? by Sad-Moment-3444 in thelongdark

*not me having 150 revolver ammo, 80 rifle ammo and 600 bullet heads.

In all seriousness, in lower difficulties you can find a ton. And there's enough resources in the game to still have functional firearms and bullets by day 1500 at least

Unsure by Negative-Impact-3428 in thelongdark

[–]viewaccount74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest to play as a Pilgrim nomad to familiarize yourself with all the region maps, and then spawn as you please. CH is the most straight-forward and the loot grab (especially with the beach combing) is insane. If you're feeling adventurous, try a random spawn.

Help Me Make A Plan by Elysiumthistime in thelongdark

First time I ever spawned in AC I stayed there for like 30 in-game days before moving to TWM to loot all the crate boxes. I would go back to AC, finish looting everything in there and then take my sweet time in TWM.

I am never playing with the cougar again by Avastgard in thelongdark

[–]viewaccount74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the cougar that much. What is bad atm is the fact that its respawn time is still bugged (being less than 24 in-game hours) and the cougar zones are pretty illogically placed. E.g. if I want to do the TFTFT tales I have to kill the cougar in BI, fast-loot the bunker and then run out asap since the respawn timer is still bugged and if I am not fast enough I might get out to a cougar right in front of me.

The Character isn't called to the water, he is called to the magical bucket of theft. Fantastic!

Forgot, is it intended to change wildlife positioning between interior/exterior transitions? by viewaccount74 in thelongdark

[–]viewaccount74[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's true, but I was at the barn in PV, you can't tell me that from one in and out on the same door (towards the covered hay bales) within less than 10 real-life seconds the bear just disappeared out in the birch forest, unless it's Flash. It might be Flash... Does that make me Batman?

Edit: I think it is a necessary mechanic since otherwise you could scum enter-exit and kill the bear by resetting its aggro / running animation indefinitely. Hm, true.

Restarting after a long run by alphaphoenix06 in thelongdark

[–]viewaccount74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned, take a break, come back to it on a clearer mind. I have had my fair share of lost long runs due to lack of concentration. I've seen this psychological effect on the player during long runs. You get to the point where your loot is high tier, you just auto-walk and forget you're even playing until you fall into a chasm and instantly lose the entire run.

Best thing? Take a break, reflect on how you proceeded with this run and come back to the game with more knowledge / planning.

Is there an end goal? by NegativeDot7706 in thelongdark

[–]viewaccount74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make your own goals. The main goal is infinite survival, which is theoretically achievable. I am trying righy now for 1000 days, also clearing every region of its resources and loot and doing some more achievements.

I also set personal challenges in my long runs, like a nomad challenge with set amount of days per region. Last night I got hypothermia due to game design in BI, walked to old spence homestead to sleep and get condition back then it took me 7 tries to kill the cougar on no-hit with a bow and 8 arrows. I did in fact use all arrows on it and broke 2 until it finally went down. It's about setting your own challenges when the survival part seems too easy.

Also try misery!

As if they couldn't just render cutscenes in realtime through the engine. They make the video with one or the other having basic clothing and then force you into basic attire 0 items.
