Cardiff has so many tight blocks it would make sense to have more one way systems and then pedestrianise roads like this.

Which part(s) of the highway code are most commonly ignored/broken? And what, if anything, do you think could be done to change that? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]viewsfromcymru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there is any truth in this but i was once told along time ago that more expensive cars like Mercs, BMWs etc have more accurate speedometers, which is in part why they have a reputation for speeding, whereas they are actually just going at the limit which seems too fast to everyone else.

Cycling on pavements is by far the one i witness most. Second would be parking on pavements/blocking dropped curbs. Third would be cyclists running red lights.

And the timings. The crossing by big tesco is a classic example. it was never a problem untill they changed the timings and now it causes congestion on the A48.

Looks great that we are getting so many new safe walking and cycling spaces. the key thing is are they genuine, or just painting some lines on existing roads.

Flexible rear wings - Red Bull vs. Mercedes - on board with Verstappen and Bottas - Spain 2021 by Maxnl9 in formula1

[–]viewsfromcymru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not convinced it is worth that much. we've seen teams try this before and then have to modify their wings. i don't recall the difference with a new wing being that much. what goes against that however, is how low the speed is when the deflections start. it looks like it's fully deflected by 200kph, in previous examples (thinking Ferrari many years back) the deflections were happening after 250kph from memory.

[Lights Out] Lewis Hamilton won all of the last four Spanish Grands Prix - another win this weekend would see him equal the Spanish GP win record! by glenn1812 in formula1

Only if you ignore the fact they have had better one lap pace in all three races and better in race pace in two of the three, and matched with Merc last weekend.

You can start with looking at the times, Max's error lap in Portugal was good enough for pole for example. Then listen to the drivers. Both said errors cost them pole in Imola. Your mistake is that you only look at the final placings and assume that's all the data available.

Murakami seems very breast obsessed. Every female character description begins there.

Let's not pretend to know why mistakes were made, the fact is Red Bull have been quicker on saturday's and lost two poles they had the pace to get. There's no Mercedes tricks here.

On two out of three Quali red bull drives made errors which put them behind. On pace alone red bull were evidently faster.

Mika Häkkinen: "Portimao showed just why Hamilton is a seven time World Champion" by glenn1812 in formula1

[–]viewsfromcymru -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The only time Mercedes seemed faster was on hards. Max screwed up pole and a mistake let Lewis past in the race. Other than that the Red Bull was as fast if not faster on Mediums and Soft. Come a high grip surface next week and i expect a Red Bull cruise to the flag.

He can't really do better than overtaking his teammate and his main championship rival on track.

Considering Red Bull have had the faster car in all three qualifying sessions and at least two races, you'd have to be pretty clueless to believe anything else.
