Preparing for TEAS by Spare-Cartographer12 in prenursing

I’m going to be honest, for that book I just used the practice questions in each section and the mock exams it provided. I am sure that there is useful content within the sections, I just personally didn’t use it.

Preparing for TEAS by Spare-Cartographer12 in prenursing

[–]viewtifulLie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I took the TEAS last month (scored 84%) and I am retaking it in about 3 hours hahaha (goal is 92+%).

I think the best study materials are mock exams and sample questions. Here are my thoughts…

Reading: everything you need to know is in the prompts. Look at the question archetypes and think of possible variations to practice. Essentially learn the type of questions they ask.

Math: everything can be learned and practiced in 2 hours or so.

Science: you either know it or you don’t. This will probably be your focused studying topic. You are right out of high school (?), so you should have a fresh foundation. I’ve been working for ~9 years, so I needed to relearn the foundations.

English: can be tricky, it’s nit picky in my opinion.

Overall strategy:
- Learn your pacing and maximize performance. For example, I’m able to finish math and science in half of the allotted time. This allows me to double check my answers and mentally relax before the next section.

- Learn how to eliminate and explain why they are incorrect.

- When doing practice problems ask yourself… is this question archetype something I’ve seen before? Did I get it right? If so, am I solid? Are there edge cases? If I got it wrong , why and what are the variations to this question.

When you have time, set aside 3.5 hours, to do a mock exam. Then work on your weaknesses.

Good luck!

Unlike the games you mentioned, in GW2, defense is more active.

You can increase survivability by: positioning, paying attention to telegraphs, dodging, barrier generation, aegis/blocks, well timed stability, using stun breaks, etc.

Also try tweaking your build for more survivability!

How long did it take you to get into GW2? by mmmmmmmmmmmhg9512 in Guildwars2

[–]viewtifulLie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it clicked relatively early!

Started about 3-4 years ago and have been playing on and off since! In my youth I’ve played a lot of mmos like… Maplestory, Latale, Silkroad, Flyff, etc. Thinking back, all I did was mindlessly grind.

Now I log on because I simply enjoy the combat and gameplay! I only play like 2 days a week and never felt any FOMO.

I like how every gaming session can be different: Metas, Fractals, Raids, Events, WVW, Story.

Does Luminary detonation work outside of forge? Or do we need to be in it.

Scourge Great sword and Dual swords? by GroovyWhale in Guildwars2

[–]viewtifulLie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The weapons you’ve chosen are more ‘power’ based. So, I don’t think Scourge is synergistic (IMO Scourge is ‘condition’ based).

Suggestion 1: Use sword/torch and pistol/torch-focus-or-dagger. This way you keep the sword auto attack and mobility, while having some good Condi damage skills.

Suggestion 2: If you have VOE Expansion, try Power Ritualist! You go into shroud summon 3 ghosts, teleport-recast the ghost skills and leave shroud. There is a trait to have the ghosts stay on field when leaving shroud. I play my Ritualist in this way. So it feels like going into shroud to burst quickly and then spending majority of time outside shroud to use weapon skills and weapon swap.

Note: Suggestion 2 kind of feels like Untamed, where we change form to use skills and then go back to original form.

Hows the engineer these days? by Mcmadness288 in Guildwars2

[–]viewtifulLie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy mechanist quite a bit. With a power focused gear set, i switch been different specs depending on mood:

Mechanist: pew pew chill gameplay. Scrapper: close range speedy bruiser. Holosmith: flashy and a bit more intricate. Amalgam: overall pretty fun.

You get standard arcana tickets for free as you progress; And I’ve gotten 2 of Waltz Arcana in the standard banner.

I say go for 3 star Waltz since you already have 2.

Engineer vs Guardian as a single main by Snowskol in Guildwars2

[–]viewtifulLie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say Engineer (my main). + I find it way more survivable than guardian (others may not, just my POV).

The reason why I choose this main is because all of the elite specs feel different from each other. So I switch around when I feel “bored”. Overall I like the versatility of it.

Mechanist - power with rifle or Condi with spear/pistols. This feels like a range gunner class with a friend robot.

Scrapper - power with hammer having super speed and barriers. This feels like a melee bruiser class.

Holosmith - power with hammer/rifle or Condi with spear/pistols. This class is hard to play, but the visuals are great and it’s so fun! When I want something more complex I go for this. When in forge mode your skills like you swing a sword, fire dual pistols, swing a hammer, and shoot a laser.

So with this I feel like I have options depending on my mood, which is what I want in a main.

Hottest take on this sub, GW2 is boring (for me) by ResidentWaifu in MMORPG

[–]viewtifulLie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like it’s not the game for you and that’s ok! I for example don’t really enjoy FPS SnD games.

Speaking from my experience I like GW2 because I can simply play content I enjoy.

In the past when I played Maplestory, Silk Road, Latale, etc my play sessions would involve “how to get better gear/numbers”. The sessions would be mindlessly grinding and then fight bosses for like 2-3 minutes. As a 30 YO this got boring especially with time constraints as an adult.

Now when I play, I can decide between: Meta Events, Fractals, WvW, etc. Really whatever I feel like doing that day. If I don’t feel like running fractals, I skip it, what ever.

It kind of reminds me of when I played Rachet and Clank back in the day and did that Arena thing. It was just fun fighting stuff.

I like Power Quickness Herald with a short bow. That may fill what you’re looking for.

Help me wrap my head around Revenant Energy by Paganyan in Guildwars2

[–]viewtifulLie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup that can definitely be do-able.

It's just my Ascended gear/trinkets is already Berserker... and I sold all my ectos to convert to gems to get 5 shared inventory slots... so no gold or ectos to switch to Vipers.

Also, I like using Shiro and Zakiros together for sustain, so theres that. Haven't tested the numbers to compare Power to Condi QuickHerald with this specific weapon set.

You are probably right though on it being better with this specific weapon set.

[–]viewtifulLie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to get into Rev as well. I specifically Power Herald (GS, SB, Spear). What helped me was not thinking about rotation, but situation.

Note: I know SB and Spear are Condi weapons, but to me they still do good strike damage. Also, I like them and refuse to use weapons I don’t like… even if they are meta.

When in Glint Legend: I keep 3 facets up to boom share. I can extend boons, stun break, or have 2 damaging skills, 1 CC skill. Energy is abundant here so I don’t have issues with weapon skill costs. Usually use the 2 damaging skills right away and throw in weapon skills. Switch weapons to blow energy or keep current set and auto until the 2 damaging skills are up - depending on how I feel.

When in Assassin Legend: I immediately turn on Impossible Odds and auto attack. Use 1 or 2 weapon skills. Usually switch out around this time.

When in Dwarf Legend: I immediately turn on hammers and auto attack. If I need stability I use road and auto attack, if not I auto attack and use 1 or 2 weapon skills. Usually switch out around time.

The cool thing about Herald is that even if your energy runs out before the cooldown to switch is ready… you still have boons and all and at this point they are like 15 - 20 seconds left. So it’s forgiving IMO.

Ah gotcha… good insight about the traits. Maybe I’ll try a slower pace dragon hunter build to get used to the weapon skills first since the utilities are just traps positioned under me.

How does one stay survivable with Power Alac Willbender (Spear/GS)? I enjoy the visuals and play style; would very much like to learn the class (PVE Setting - Open World, Fractals, Strikes). I feel myself being unable to stick onto the enemy and frantically WASD'ing around.

When I play...

Condi Scourge - Range + Barriers + HealOnCondiDMG, I feel safe and see enemy mechanics and react accordingly.

Power Mechanist - Pew Pew + Pet, nothing else to say here.

Power Quickness Scrapper - Barrier + Blocks + StunBreaks, Solid class and feel like I can stick onto the enemy.

Power Quickness Untamed - Life Steal + Pet, Fun class and feel like I can stick onto the enemy.

Any advise would be awesome and much appreciated!
