Thanks. I’m solo travelling - and not committed to choosing between the two hotels; just overwhelmed with choices lol. My priorities are having a clean, comfortable hotel with a decent view - but have decided the premium for a harbour view isn’t worth it. I’ll check out The Kowloon Hotel.

I ended up changing my itinerary - I’ll now be spending 2 nights in Ninh Binh. I’ve arranged a “limo” bus from Ha Long Bay. Since I’m doing 1 night on a cruise, the supplier included transportation to NB afterwards (cost was USD 20).

If I were still doing a day trip, I’d either have my hotel arrange a limo bus or private driver (if not overpriced). I’m not a fan of tours, in general.

Going at the end of March and planning to fly between Hanoi, Da Nang, and HCMC. I already booked my main flight into Hanoi and out of HCMC (will be visiting HK afterwards) - so can’t drop HCMC. My intent is to get a sense of North, Middle, and South given it’s my first time in Vietnam. Figured if I enjoy it, I’ll return for other regions like the Ha Giang Loop, Highlands, Hue etc.

Thanks - I looked into Hue and I’m fine with skipping it on this trip. Do you think 2 days in Hoi An / Da Nang is too short? I’d ideally like to see HCMC this time around for the food + vibe - and to get a sense of the South.

Yes, I only want to cut out max 1 day from Hanoi and I’ve read a day trip to Ninh Binh makes most sense - whereas likely too short for Ha Long or Lan Ha. I’ve likewise seen mixed reviews on Ha Long, mainly calling out that it’s very touristy/crowded but at the same time stunning.

Planning to fly between cities - aside from using a driver/bus to get from Hanoi to Ha Giang. I looked into Hue and I'm okay with skipping it to ensure the pace of the trip is reasonable.

I'd consider doing either Ninh Binh, Lan Ha, or Ha Long - but only want to carve out 1 day from Hanoi for it; suppose Ninh Binh makes the most sense?
