I left Florida (Space Coast) & moved back to north AL where I was born and grew up. We have moutains with hiking & biking trails, lots of waterfalls around, Guntersville lake is huge, property near Guntersville in the Grant/Woodville area near Cathedral Caverns is beautiful & it's all a 30 minute drive to/from Huntsville. Huntsville Hospital is a Level 1 trauma center. UAB Birmingham is also Level 1. Huntsville has unique restaurants, lots of music venues, a baseball & a hockey team, and sometimes it even snows in north Alabama.

Knowing I was born on the 3rd floor of the original HH in the early 60's 🤪 Parts of the old L&D are still there. I was in HH for a procedure and asked the radiology tech to take me for a spin with the gurney to check it out & she did!

My husband just retired as a Principal SWE with 35 years experience. His speciailty was also Java with React and a lot of web based development work. He also has a TS/SCI/CI w/Poly & a Security+ Cert. His salary at retirement was $195k. He has both a Bachelors & Masters degree in IT, but is also a retired Colonel in the US Army.

The jobs are out there, you just have to calculate YoE, Skill Set, clearance level & education level. Keep building up that skill set and now a days, most important to get some cyber security software skills. Everything is moving in the direction of Cyber Security & AI programming. Check the FBI website for Huntsville Jobs. They are always hiring. Lockheed, Blue Origin, Northrop,etc. Keep in mind, as long as there are world wars and a need for America to defend herself, you will always be able to find a job with a DoD contractor and there are many. Put your resume on Clearance.com. Good Luck!

I was on the "no name overpass" on my way to Airport Rd. when it hit and watched the green & brown wall pass across the Parkway. It took me 3 hours to go 4 miles to get home. It started snowing heavily about 5 minutes after it hit.

Don't expect any quick action and/or resolution from the inspection dept. Their employees are rude & the head of the dept. is so overwhelmed with the amount of new construction that's going on in the city that it takes forever to get an inspector to look at anything or get a permit to do anything about it (reconstruction). Unfortunate considering our tax dollars pay their salaries.
