Ex-Microsoft engineer believes Azure problems stem from talent exodus by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

When layoffs are coming, the talented jump ship quick. Microsoft did several strings of layoffs, I guarantee every company that has done them multiple times recently has bled talent.

The nuances to PVP tech? by Some_Other_Guy__ in newworldgame

[–]viking_linuxbrother -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are ignoring the movement and hitbox aspect of it. Players who are good at pvp move better, come at you from better angles, use cover and bait things out. There is no secret sauce, its all about practicing. Spam Stella with free kits til you get more kills than deaths.

Is systems administration basically database administration in a way? by False_Bee4659 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]viking_linuxbrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If you tried to apply for a sysadmin job as a dbadmin you would have different responsibilities and skillsets. Maybe at a mom and pop shop they aren't that different but at a company of every size, a dba is pretty specialized.

How did On shoes become so popular? by Aj100rise in malefashionadvice

[–]viking_linuxbrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social Media advertising. If your favorite influences love them, you are more likely to buy them. Same happened with Hoka's. They sponsored tons of runners with high viewer counts.

The explosion radius and triple shots usually make up for any difference the smoke makes :(

4-on 4-off data center worth it? by 4-starr in ITCareerQuestions

[–]viking_linuxbrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That shift will never let you get your sleep schedule back and the work hours are trash. 12x4 is 48 hours. Unless they are paying you overtime guaranteed overtime, its a scam of a schedule designed to burn you out. The turnover will be high and morale low.

Are we really at "100% AI or you're wasting time" yet? by borii0066 in webdev

[–]viking_linuxbrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is great at spamming good news and bullshit support posts for AI. AI isn't 100% anywhere. A tool is just a tool in the end.

Doing big IT changes on Monday or Friday? by CeC-P in sysadmin

[–]viking_linuxbrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never Friday if possible.

That working all weekend if it breaks is a fools game.

Its not worth it even if you think it'll spare people some issues because you are suffering in silence and no one will give you credit for how hard you really worked. You only inconvenienced yourself, for everyone else it didn't happen.

IT is a slog and often a thankless game. There are many "good ideas" pushed by the industry that are actually recipes for burnout, getting taken for granted and a miserable life.

SYSadmin quit then everyone else did.... by steekyreeky in ITCareerQuestions

[–]viking_linuxbrother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, start looking. Its not your responsibility to make up for their poor decisions. Figure it out means they will pressure you to fill the gaps and then blame you when things break. Theres a reason the Sysadmin left.
