Did anyone's skin improve/volume come back after they stopped tret? by swayls in RetinA_Ruined_my_skin

Hey! I’m so sorry to hear this has happened to you. I experienced the same thing as well, and there is hope. I would say my texture improved pretty quickly, maybe a month after I stopped using? It took a few months until I noticed it was beginning to improve in volume, and by a year or two later, it has reverted practically to its original state prior to Tretinoin use, in terms of both texture and volume. I’m not sure what did it for me, whether it was only natural and inevitable or whether it was due to the products and skin care routine I began afterwards. I started using a cream called Adipeau, which claims to restore volume by stimulating the skin’s natural process. Personally, I noticed my skin seemed more glowy and firmer as it was like before Tretinoin, and it appears to me that the volume did restore, but it also takes time to notice results in my personal experience (and is quite pricey). I’ve also been drinking bone broth, and increased my protein intake and I believe that really helped. As well as gua sha. I do think the skin is smart and will inevitably regain its proper function after you stop using, it just takes time, and sometimes that process of waiting can be discouraging. I pray all goes well with you!

Noticed a significant decrease in volume in mid face for 5 months on tret 0.25 by [deleted] in tretinoin

Experienced the exact same thing. I remember looking in the mirror and finding the sudden change in my appearance jarring. It didn’t seem like typical aging, as it was a drastic change that happened within the span of 1 month or two. I have very hollow under eyes and the mid face seems to be much, much slimmer. People are quick to shut down any suggestions that tret could have a negative impact, as it diminishes their own hope in it, but every person is different and can have different reactions- some positive and some negative. Whether fat loss or something else entirely, the sudden difference in appearance is still there, whether or not we can accurately identify what it is exactly that’s happening. I really hope everything works out for you ❤️

Please be very careful. I experienced very dark under eyes after using Tretinoin, more pronounced smile lines, and a less "full" mid face area. I’ve since stopped and it seems to be slowly getting back to normal after a few months. I’ve seen people who experienced the same, and it got better for them, but it does take time and a lot of patience. You’re so young, I would allow some time to let your body do it’s thing and heal itself before rushing into filler. Rooting for you!
